Is anyone else sick of small guns?

I, personally, just don't like energy weapons, explosives or big guns. I'll waste some minigun rounds from time to time, just for the sake of it. Energy weapons, to me, are just silly. Laser and plasma weaponry is impractical and to be honest, overdone. You can find energy guns in many, many other sci fi games and movies, like Warhammer 40K, Halo, Star Wars, Star Trek, Starcraft, to name a few. It's completely illogical to use expensive, ineffective lasers or plasma guns when regular weapons would be more effective, and cheaper. Plus, small guns have more variety. You could change the intensity and colour of a laser beam, but that's really it. Conventional firearms use all kinds of bullets and shells, and have many modifications and variations available. A plasma or laser shotgun would just be odd, for example. In short, small guns are just better by default. Energy weapons are lame.

How did you come to that conclusion? There's tonnes of different types of energy weapons that can and have been made for the game. There's already a laser shotgun and it's not particularly odd, it just uses lenses to scatter the beam. I do agree that they're impractical though. With all the fiddly little electronics and stuff in them, they most likely wouldn't last the test of time, especially not in a post apocalyptic wasteland. But I don't think they're lame, they can be pretty fun.

Maybe instead of whineing on the forums you should actually search the file database.

 

Lots of people have made lots weapons that dont fall under small arms.
