Hi, I've got some trouble here, never really installed any mods for Fallout 3 before but thought I'd try it out cause new content would be really fun, thing is, alot of mods requires that I merge their meshes, sound and texture folders with my own, and here's where the problem starts. I dont have any normal folders, my texture, meshes and sound would be folders are of some type called "Bethesda File Archive". The problem is that I have no idea of how to turn them to normal folders so that I can merge the mod folders with them (Cause I cant merge them with these File Archive thingys). I tried extracting everything in those File Archives to folders named Textures etc, but that only helped with screwing my game up so that was a no go. I tried using "ArchiveInvalidation Invalidated!" too but that didnt help for anything either, and to be honest I'm not quite sure if it's supposed to help with that. Well I'm out of ideas and I'm stuck, I still really want to play the mods so if anyone knows how to fix this problem please tell me.

You won't have those folders to start with, either the mod will add them or you need to create your own. The contents of those folders will override what's in the BSA, you should leave the BSA files as they are.

So I just put in the fodlers from the mods and ignore those Bethesda File Archive things? Do I have to activate something in the FOMM or use a geck? It's the first time I try to mod Fallout 3, only modded Oblivion before thought it'd be kinda the same.

Defiantly ignore the BSA files, just put those texture, meshes and other folders straight into your data folder. If the top level folder of the mod is the data folder then put that in the game folder rather then the data folder. As you add more mods windows will start asking you to overwrite/merge those folders, you have to allow that. Keeping the file structure correct is very important, if you don't then things can go wrong very quickly. You'll need FOMM to organise the mods and you'll need to run this once too, FOMM has the same feature but it hasn't always worked for me. You won't need the GECK unless your making your own mods or plan on editing someone elses. If you have the disk space then backing up your data folder every now and again is a good idea.
