MoonMe2
Can't get anywhere near Fort Constantine = ctdSometimes after waking up from sleeping = ctdSometimes after going through a door (changing maps) = ctdSometimes when fast-traveling = ctdNever crashes while I'm in the subway system, or for the most part in the Downtown D.C. area.Happens more often the closer I get to level 20.The latest problem area: Springvale. Can't fast-travel to, or get near the area.Tried a few things that I read on TweekTown, (Changed back after no difference).Searched the forums for advice but everything I've tried does'nt work. Will the Developer ever address the rampant CTD problems that many, many people are having? p.s. dxdiag incl.p.s.s. Sorry people. I just had to vent. :)

MoonMe2
do you have the latest FO3 patch?does it crash when it's autosaving? patch 1.6I've tried disabling Sleep, Wait, and Travel auto-saves: I stepped out of Fort Bannister, took two steps forward and fired three rounds at a Deathclaw = ctd!Good thing I did a quick save. So I reloaded the game, and when I got control, I took off in a different direction = all good.Quick-saving periodically, I'm making my way to Girdershade. Half way from Fort Bannister = ctd! And I'm walking/running too. (not fast-traveling).The majority of the ctd's happen while running around through the Wasteland.
gsmanners
Sounds like "normal" CTDs. You should check out List of fixes, especially Issue 7. It would also help if you listed your mods or whether you have any. Mods can aggravate the already over-burdened game engine to the extent that it crashes even more frequently than normal. zubai
Well, crashing is a feature in Fallout 3. I run Fallout 3 vanilla 1.7 from the start and still crash now and then. This is the most bug-infested game I've ever play and I've over a dozen game installed in my PC. Sometimes when I read the forum, some people would suggest using this ver. of driver and that ver. won't work, etc.. Wtf..? This game is just buggy, not driver's fault, or faulty codec. Honestly, I don't think they will continue to support/patch this game since Fallout: New Vegas is coming. You could try reloading an old save game, it work a few time for me. roquefort
Strangely, I never get CTDs during the game. Occasional savegames crash on loading but even that's rare, and usually only when I've saved in an interior cell. Mine is far from being a state of the art machine. I did discover that saving a game with the radio turned off makes for a much faster load time for that save for some reason.

But this time while Liberty Prime was crossing the bridge. So next time I hung back as far as I could, let him push forward, and I was able to finally get to the Purifier.Re: the second item of Issue 7, I had to create that line....But anyway, the crashes in this area seemed to happen when my character was close to heavy combat...hence the hanging back away from the heavy action.Anyway thanks again for the input. I'm really trying to be specific when recalling what was happening just before a ctd. :)Oh, btw here's my mod list.
gsmanners
Nothing really leaps out from that list, except maybe MMM (which I don't use). I suppose you could keep that active and then deactivate it when you go to do the main quest or other problematic quests.
OpposingFarce
http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=8579 MMM can definitely cause random CTDs when roaming the wastes. See if this helps. It did for me!
MoonMe2
To: OpposingFarce re: the MMM fix = So far, so good. Though I have started a new character. But I still have save games with the level 22 character. I will keep you and everyone else posted after a bit of gameplay. Thanks for the tip.
