Okay, I think I really messed something up here. Early this morning, my game start crashing right before my save finished loading. I use a heavily modded game, and so I started one by one unchecking mods from FOMM. All the way to Fallout3.esm (leaving that checked)---No go. This is when I did something really crappy. I system restored to yesterday. ugggg. Now, when I uninstall the game, unofficial patch, fomm, and FOSE, I cannont properly reinstall the game. Now it CTDs right at the title screen. Ive used regedit to clean up my registry to get a clean install. Then when I install everything. FO3 doesn't work. FOMM doesn't work, windows-live doesn't work. I'm looking in expolorer, and I see foloders like Data (2), meshes (2), etc. I use XP for my op system, is there anything you folx know to get my game going again. Please help from a Fallout 3 crack addict.

How do you reinstalled the game?

You could follow this checklist. You need to delete some files manually. Just check all your folders for the game dir (usually C: \ Program Files \ Bethesda Softworks \ Fallout 3 \ Data - you may have customised that) and delete or rename it.

Checklist

  1. Backup save games and your ArchiveInvalidation.txt file if you use one
  2. Uninstall Fallout3 in your System Control (Software)

  3. There are two Folders left: Game Dir (with your Mods) & My Games folder
-> delete or simply rename the Folders to backup
-> be careful with backed up data and avoid using old *.ini files

  4. Clean Registry (e.g. by CCleaner or RegCleaner)
  5. Reboot your System, to get all Registry changes applied
  6. Defrag your Hard Drive
  7. Install the latest GfWL-Client
go to "Latest update & quick help" --> click "Download the Latest Update"
  8. Install Fallout3
  9. Install Patch 1.7 and you'll be fine

hope that helps

THank you for the replay. I am currently installing fallout 3, but performed the clean install of LIVE as you laid out, and I'm getting one hell of a wierd error notice. The Live mini-loadscreen shows, but right when its about to switch to the logon screen, I get and unexpected error notice (do I want to send to microsoft). I thinkwhen I did the system restore either something got deleted, or now there's multiple same files that the computer isn't recognizing. will try fallout next and report. Thanks again
