Akimb0
Hi, simple question I guess, is it safe to apply the 1.7 patch? I've already applied a lot of mods to the game, just wondering if the patch might mess some of them up :S I also heard a few people have experienced frame rate drops with the newer patches, is this true? My rig is barely holding out with all the stuff I've added haha.
gsmanners
It depends. If you're already using 1.1 (and especially 1.5) or later, then 1.7 won't really change much. There are a lot of wildly varying reports, but that's par for the course on this game. I personally think a lot of people are confusing bugs from 1.1 and later with 1.7, but are just now noticing them so of course they think it's specific to 1.7. If you have 1.0.0.15, and you have managed to play the game reasonably well, then you should probably stick with that.
stsinnet71
I got all the DLC from gfwl and original disk. I run like 120 mods when I upgraded to 1.7 haven't run into any new issues that weren't present before patch. If that helps
Akimb0
Thanks for the replies. I'm running the 1.4 patch atm, it's just I wanted to d/l a mod last night and it said it -requires- the 1.7 patch. I guess I'll try it. edit: Update 1.7 Notes (PC) New Features New achievements for Mothership Zeta Update 1.6 Notes (PC) New Features New achievements for Point Lookout Wait...this is all those patches added!? -_- can someone confirm to me whether I do actually need 1.7 to run certain mods? It was one of the house mods, now I look at it I can't see why I'd need 1.7.
VerbalEarthworm
the updates do more than add achievements but the update notes never reflect that. each update has a fair amount of bug-fixing (and bug-creating). 1.7 is a very stable update and can be used without risk. also, you should use Fallout Mod Manager - FOMM - to launch Fallout3 with the latest 1.7 compatible FOSE. Yeah I have the latest FOMM and presumably the latest FOSE ( It was a beta one iirc. ) I'll get the patch if it definitely does more than just add silly achievements for DLC I don't own :P
