CloudLevi
For those who don't get the Description up there, I meant Oblivion as the game's own personal hades. I think you get me now... Okay, so my point is this. I just lost nineteen frickin' PICKS trying to keep them from getting taken by the Mythic Dawn. I found everything BUT them when I returned to gather my things, so now I haven't a single Lockpick.Where can I find them en masse? I'm utterly sick of running out. Same goes for the Vampires, but no, I didn't drop my Vampires to keep them from getting taken by the Mythic Dawn...or anyone else, for that matter. In fact, I didn't DROP any Vampires to begin with. Go figure... Bottom line, I want to get BIT...NOW!!! D<
Sarya
Um, those things are generally hard to miss, I wonder how did you manage it. For lockpicks - they appear frequently in loot of bandits, marauders and goblins, especially the latter. If you want to buy them, join the Thieves Guild or Dark Brotherhood, then you can trade with Armand or Mraaj-Dar. Also, if you're level ten or more, go find Nocturnal's shrine on the northeast on Leeyawin and get an eternal one. Lockpick, I mean. For vampires - why, there's a lot of them. You may just join the Dark Brotherhood and do a couple of quests, then you'll be offered an opportunity. But if you don't want to - just find their lair and get hit several times. There are very many, the closest are: cave just east of Skingrad Castle, Fort Carmala just south of Chorrol, Memorial Cave to the east across the lake from Arcane University. Edit: don't worry about the report, it's just for moving the topic.
CloudLevi
Lemme guess...spoilers forum thanks to the mentioning of my fun little mission to grab the Amulet (PHAIL! I tried killing the guy who had it...invulnerable =_=;;; or insanely powerful - don't worry....I finished the quest...). As for how I missed them, I'm not that...adventurous. My computer's slow enough that running everywhere gets annoying or boring, so I stick to riding short distances and Mapping to and fro when I can. The info on lockpicks was more how I can get them without killing random fruitcakes, so I'm meeting with Grey Fox right now so I can get into the Dark Brotherhood without reloading repeatedly in case I break a pick. Oh yes...thanks for the info.
Sarya
That too, but mostly because the answer to your question requires spoilers.
Eshenaleros
look, if you have no problem with cheating a little, open the console with the '~' key and type "player.additem A [number you want]" without the quotes, and substituting the number of lockpicks you want in place of the bracketed area. I understand what you mean about fast traveling and slow computers. I just find it convenient to have one extra lockpick when I'm attempting a chest lock

David Brasher
I often find mudcrabs with lockpicks. I really don't know why. Ogres too. I sort of imagined they would just force their way in rather than daintily and skillfully using a lockpick.

D< As Sarya stated, your best bet for finding lockpics is in the mentioned sources, but particularly among goblins (And you can find them in the sewers under the IC (especially in the Elven gardens sewers). As for vampires, you quickly can find them in the IC sewers too, though you'll find them only in the "Beneath the Bloodworks" portion of the sewers. (And note that some doors to the Bloodworks are locked).
