katashy
Well, I'm a geek, <snip> Hey, no fair. I never was able to make it to Geekdom. Had to settle for being a Nerd (sniff) But I blinded them with science.... Anybody that doesn't role play Oblivion may as well trash it and go play Serious Sam. Wadda you mean? There are geeks and there are nerds. This is MY view on the two: Nerd: Likes games, but is more of a clever, maths/sciencey person. Like knowing the spec of computers an stuff like that. Geek: A geek likes sci-fi or fantasy, manga and stuff. They geek out o things. They like playing games alot, but aslong as the PC plays it, they dont really care about the spec. Thats my view, and, as I said in my previous post everyone role-plays. Also, Ancient Aeons kind of right, you are role playing as a soldier and master chief in halo, but it's preset. You can make no canges and the back story is already made.
AncientSpaceAeon
Oblivion is not fully RPG, because they don't have the "choices and consequences" thing .The purest RPGs maybe those old RPGs, like Diablo and Baldur's Gate (according from what I read). ipegot
diablo is less of an rpg than oblivion. oblivion has consequences for your actions with infamy, bounties, etc. diablo is an action game with rpg elements but its not an rpg. baldur's gate and oblivion are very similar games. I wouldnt call either game that old, either <.<
Leenysaurus
There is nothing wrong with Roll playing, Hell, my character Evelynne comes from a roleplay that Ive been a part of. Same goes for my character, Arya; she's part of the same role-playing campaign as Evelynne. There is nothing wrong with role-playing. As someone who likes to write as a hobby, it helps me keep me in practice and is crucial to character development. I love the whole concept of having to get into character and consider how your character would do things as opposed to how you would. It's a lot of fun. Arya was created a mere two years ago, but in all that time she's like her own being, totally separate from myself. As a person, I'm generally very quiet and somewhat antisocial - Arya, on the other hand, is very loud, aggressive, and completely outgoing. In situations where I would stand back and take no action, Arya would charge forward and be the first to do something. I could ramble on; but I'm just making an example of where the fun is in role-playing - it may be different for some but for me, it's all about the character development. I see no shame in being a "nerd" like that. =
tehelderscrolls
i want to know if anyone role-plays or is it a nerd/geek thing? I don't think it is, If people think you/me/anyone are a nerd/geek thats their opinion. ~~TES
AncientSpaceAeon
Role playing can keep you busy playing Oblivion, rather than spend money to buy a new game. So there's nothing wrong with it.

ipegot
I'll give you that but a game doesnt have to be old for that to happen on pc. I was looking for a copy of Dungeon Runners, not that old, and you just can't find it on shelves any more. The big big big sellers you'll find on shelves for awhile and then they just disappear. Console games are always easier to find later on, kind of annoying. I believe I have my Baldur's gate cd's hanging around somewhere <.<
David Brasher
Diablo and Diablo II are very very linear. They are sort of like playing Halo. You can chose your gear and fighting-style, and the dungeon layout is random, which can be better than Halo, but Oblivion and Morrowind are so much better as Role-Playing games that Diablo stops looking much like an RPG.
