GravenSoul1 Posted August 29, 2009 Share Posted August 29, 2009 Alright, I keep hearing a lot about, "Just open up the console and..." and I press the console button (~) like I always try to and nothing happens, no console pops up and I've scoured this forum and scoured the net for anyone who has the same problem as me and found nothing. So, can someone just tell me how to get it to work, what the hell it even is, WHEN I should hit that key (In game??) and what are some basic commands. I've got that Azazael demon guy and I heard you can enable it so you can take his armor and wear it to make yourself pretty much look like him anyway. This console problem I'm having is pretty much the mnost annoying thing that's happening to me in my PC life right now and I'm pretty sure I'm the only idiot who simply can't figure out what the hell is going on with it.. Maybe you are using vista, because if I'm not wrong, you can't use the console commands with vista. bben46 Posted August 29, 2009 Share Posted August 29, 2009 For some reason beyond my comprehension, Microsoft decided to disable the tilde key (~) when they have infrared turned on. On most desktop computers this is not a problem because they don't have IR capability. However, for laptops and media center desktops, as well as those desktops that do have an infrared receiver/transmitter it is a nuisance. On the media center PC, the simplest fix is to unplug the IR from the PC. The tilde immediately returns to use. On those with an IR that can not be simply unplugged, you will need to go into the control panel to disable IR. On an XP system: Vista will be similarStart>Settings>Control Panelclick on 'System' then the Hardware tab, then the 'Device Manager' Find the infrared portUnder the section labeled 'Device usage' select 'Do not use this Device (disable)'Click on the OK below it. A red x should appear over the IR port on the list of devices. Of course, this will make anything that relies on the IR no longer function until you change it back. Now that I have it, I typed HELP into it and it gave me some basic commands, but can anyone kinda ... eh.. simplyfy and maybe show me some other commans that can be used? Like maybe, unlock a door or.... .. forgive me for killling the entire mages guild and let me on the other side of the Arcane university... How to duplicate some things, etc etc... I sometimes get cranky when the npc's have rude comments when i walk up to them, causes me to.. eh... hack at them until there's no one else to make rude comments... I'm in the Army... lot of built up anger... maybe my father never hugged me... who knows... Poor npc's, their mangled little bodies littering the grounds.. I disabled the Mod that was given to fix and instead did the device manager thingy that bben told me to do and it works better, it's not glitchy. I just wanted to share this with all of you, the joy of what I found out within two seconds of activating my console. Okay so, I have the Wiki page loaded but haven't read it yet so I still didn't know any commands so i figured Id just type stuff in. Welllllll, I clicked on a npc while the console was open and then what do you think i typed?? I'll tell you. "KILL" And... She fell over dead. I laughed hysterically. There's something wrong with me.
