annoyinglogin2
Lod mods can't be activated or disabled, they don't have ESPs, only the LOD files. I removed them but it didn't help. Also that mod only affected the ground, big buildings and some trees, not NPCs, creatures, etc. Such a thing would be impossible on the Oblivion Engine, which struggles at animating 20+ NPCs at once
annoyinglogin2
How big is the save supposed to be in normal conditions? Isn't there a way to export my char to a new game in case the bloating was caused by a lot of mod enabling/disabling?
ipegot
I have two characters, one 29 and one 27, 80+ hours each and both under 4mb on the save file. Doubtful that a LOD mod had any impact on your save time. I would wager your issue is related to a mod or hardware. Leaning towards a mod since your save file size seems kinda high. If you start a new game with all your mods turned on is it 6mb like your level 8? Turn off half your mods and make another new save, compare file sizes, isolate the problem mod that way perhaps
annoyinglogin2
It's hard to turn off half of my mods, since half of my mods are the requirements of the other half, pretty much. And no, nothing to do with hardware, my PC is a monster. I'll try with a new save tomorrow.
annoyinglogin2
On a completely new game the quick save takes more or less five seconds
Nexus Set
If you have Wrye Bash, on the Saves tab, you can right click on the save file and then click remove bloat on the context menu that pops out. Maybe you have a mod on that keeps adding junk data to your saves.
annoyinglogin2
Already tried. Did nothing on the "slow" save. It deleted 43 thingies but it made no difference
thePhilanthropy
Maybe this has nothing to do with Oblivion (or mods)? Maybe your pc has become very slow at writing data to your HDD in general? Try to copy a random big file (~100mb) and see how long that takes. If it takes extremely long (several minutes), something's definitely wrong with your HDD. If that's the case, read further. If not, ignore.Go to your "device manager". Expand "IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers". Select "Primary IDE Channel", right-click--> "properties". Choose the "Advanced Settings"-tab. Make sure the "Tranfer Mode" is set to "DMA if available". Do the same for the "Secondary IDE Channel". If they are both set to "PIO", your HDD will be extremely slow. Maybe that's your problem, maybe not. Hope I could help. annoyinglogin2
My Stalker folder is 6.2 GBs 4 minutes to copy-paste it. My PC has ben on for a while though, It can probably do it in 1/2 minutes on a fresh startup Also, I have 4 IDE channels, all named the same way, and two named Intel® ICH9 2 port Serial ATA Storage Controller 2 - 2926 And Intel® ICH9 4 port Serial ATA Storage Controller 1 - 2920 The two named ones don't have an "avanced" tab The unnamed ones do, two of them have an empty field The other two say "Mode 5 Ulta DMA"The only option I can change is a "tick box" that says "enable DMA"At the moment both are cheked. thePhilanthropy
if the channels have any ultra dma mode active, your hdd is alright. So, that's NOT the problem then. It doesn't matter how many channel entries you have, as long as they are in DMA mode (if possible). So it probably has something to do with your game. Have you tried to start a new, completely unmodded*, game? If it still takes as long to save that new game, you might consider to re-install the game. Seriously. * deactivate all mods. Rename your Data folder to something else (that way no mod-added resources will be used.).
