Installing and using mods....

I've been searching around a bit, maybe in the wrong area, for some kind of guide that helps someone like me who has never used mods in this game before. There are so many mods, FOMM, FOSE, other mods.. Just need a link or something that tells me which files, what order so I don't jack up my FO3 install.

Any assistance is greatly appreciated.

I found the FOOKunity website and found this:

If adding FOOK2 to an existing game (not recommended), wait 4 days (in-game) in an empty, indoor cell so actors can respawn with proper items

I guess I should understand that as any game I currently have going , as in a save game? My recent character is only level 6, would it be recommended to just start over?

Thanks! That first link was last updated Dec '08, I see that many files have changed over those months, is that guide still accurate?

It is recommended that you install Fallout 3 to someplace other than C:\Program Files\ because on Windows Vista, there are additional security features that can be problematic.

I have the steam version installed in program files/steam/...etc.. <-----is this not a good idea?

I would recommend not installing to the program files directory as vista UAC is protective of that folder and will cause hassle when putting in new mods:

So I think I got it working, while I have no DLCs I installed the FOMM, FOSE, FOOK2.........so does it matter how I launch the game? I noticed it launches a bit differently if I do it from the FOMM screen than from the steam games tab....while mods be active in either case? Also, I'm guessing I should just make a new character to ensure the mod functions fully?
