Maigrets
When you first install the game there won't be any meshes and textures folders. All of the games meshes and textures are in archives called BSA's. If you want to use files from the BSA's you need to unpack them first with a utility like Oblivion Mod Manager. However, for normal game play there is no need to do this at all. You would unpack them if you wanted to use the files to make a mod and then it's not even necessary most of the time. If you download a mod that has meshes and textures folders just extract the files to a temporary folder somewhere on your hard drive. Then, following the instructions that came with the mod, if any, move the files to your Data directory. Because there are no meshes and texture folders by default they will be created for you. Check that the mod itself doesn't include a Data folder also. If it does move the files within it to the Oblivion directory itself or you'll end up with two Data folders and the game won't be able to find the mod files. Next time you download a mod with these folders included just overwrite the existing ones when asked. No data will be removed, but the new files will be added.
