Missing Mesh

Well... I'm apparently missing a mesh to my soul stones, oddly enough. If I drop one, I get a big yellow star-like thing that says "WTF! I'm a missing mesh!" or something to that effect. Here's a list of my mods, maybe someone will recognize this issue... oh, and their load order. Any tips would be appreciated, as I've just learned about the whole... load order... thingy...

Just a little observation here. You can actually uninstall the KT_CustomRaceFix.esp as the game issue that it addresses is already fixed in the Unofficial Oblivion Patch.

Also, you should move your Knights.esp to load above the Mart's Monster Mod - Knights.esp. That should fix potential bugs. :thumbsup:

I recently had similar issues with random missing meshes. Installed OBSE 0018 and Refscope. They worked like dream and indicated exactly what was missing. In my case, it was Frans that was missing the meshes. I upgraded to the 4.5 and all was resolved. Also, if you run ArchiveInvalidation InValidated, you will need to add "FranNewItems. bsa" , no quotes, in your Oblivion ini. Look for saArchive at the end of the list. You will see Obilivion.bsa and a couple of others. Just type FranNewItems.bsa at the end of that list.

Hmm... maybe I'm using it wrong? I don't quite understand how to use refscope. What it says is that it's defined in Oblivion.esm. As for the .ini thing... I have Fran's, and I had already upgraded to 3.5. I didn't know what to do with the .bsa files, so I put them in the Data folder, and unzipped them using Oblivion Mod Manager. I DO have the archive invalidated thingy. I don't know if this will help... but when I open it up, it says "textures\aiidummytexture.dds"

 

Edit: Ah, I see! I was trying to CAST refscope, so of course it was looking at my character... well, I don't understand what it says in the readme about closing the console with an item selected... nothing is coming up about my soulstone.

FraNewItems.bsa needs to added to your Oblivion.ini file found in My Games/Oblivion. Mine looks like this:

 

sArchiveList=Oblivion - Meshes.bsa, ArchiveInvalidationInvalidated!.bsa, Oblivion - Textures - Compressed.bsa, Oblivion - Sounds.bsa, Oblivion - Voices1.bsa, Oblivion - Voices2.bsa, Oblivion - Misc.bsa, FraNewItems.bsa, FraNewCrea.bsa

 

You need to add FraNewItems.bsa only if you have ArchiveInvalidation Invalidated install. You will know if you have if it is listed in the sArchiveList.

 

As an aside, Frans has an upgrade to 4.5. When I upgraded, it put FraNewItems.bsa and FraNewCrea.bsa in my ini file. No need for me to add them.

I'll admit... I got desperate. I uninstalled everything, including Oblivion, and am now in the process of redoing it, with the help of the Install Tweak Guide. But, in case something goes wrong, could you tell me how to use refscript to find missing meshes in game? I've read the readme, but the instructions make no sense to me... about the console and such.

For refscope, start your game with the mod enabled.

You'll gain a lesser power called Refscope.

Make it your active spell. In first person view put your crosshairs over whatever mesh you want information on and hit your activate key(spacebar). This works if you can target the mesh. If you can not target the mesh such as in the case of a missing mesh you will need to hit your tilda(~) key to open the console and then left click on the wtfmesh that replaces the missing mesh. After selecting the mesh hit your tilda key again to exit the console and a message box should open up with info on the mesh you selected in the console.

Edit: Nevermind, fixed... but now, a NEW new problem... -.- I know it's an OOO thing. Hot key torch... I HATE the feature, but it keeps... reappearing... in my INVENTORY! RWAR! I use OOO Lite, and when installing, I added DLT-remover, but it doesn't remove it. Help before I start flinging my infinite supply of torches at people! ...too bad you can't set them on fire with them.
