hann286
The sticky above on "How To Install Mods" and other instructions I've read recommend against installing to c:/Program Files/I understand this; it is a good idea. I've had trouble with permissions etc. with the program installed there. The problem is, no matter where I tell the installer to put Fallout3, it always ends up in C:/Program Files(x86)/Bethesda Softworks/etc.:\I'm missing something here, but dunno what?Any help appreciated; I'm not much of a windows person/expert/fan. :P Basically I use it to play FO3 only. ;)I imagine this has already been addressed, if someone could point to a link. > Using Vista Home Premium (64-bit)> Oh, and installing FO3 from a download I bought from Best_Buy, not from a boxed set w/ disc, BTW. phoneyLogic
Already tried to install the game in Admin mode?Think you would need to find the downloaded Fallout files, make a right-click on the exe (might be sth like setup.exe) >> choose "run as admin" and install it manually. hope this helps You could alternatively try to disable >> UAC <<, whis is causing the trouble with permissions. welcome to the forums 8)
hann286
Hey, Psy; thanks for the suggestion. Reinstalling in admin mode was much easier (at least I didn't have to hide the install shield folder to successfully reinstall). But alas, no-go. Somehow the downloaded version is going to install the Bethesda Softworks\Fallout3\Data\etc. to C:\Program Files (x86)\ no matter what. What I end up with in C:\Games\Fallout3\, where I told it to install, is \bin, \DXREDIST, \G4WL, \Screenshots, etc.Oh well; I see now how to turn off UAC anyway, so I can do that. :) (Sorry; not really into Vista & its intricacies.)Now on to: PROJECT BEAUTY! (Tired of seeing errm.. not very attractive NPCs.) Thanks again, and I appreciate the welcome.
