Dragon9500
Every so often, my game crashes, causing it to show a black screen with an 8 bit colored window bar at the top saying,"Fallout 3" in the top corner. It then closes, showing my desktop at 600x400 and still in 8 bit color, then restarts, and everything is back to normal. This used to happen to my brother, but for him it wouldn't restart. Anyone know why this is happening?
phoneyLogic
It might be a driver problem. So what's your Card and your Drivers? 1st try to perform a Windows update with Direct X etc
Dragon9500
My card is an Nvidia GeForce 8600 GTX OC, my CPU is an AMD 1600 Athalon dual core. I'll try the driver update, I haven't done that in a while. Update: After installing the driver, It still crashes when I go to that one spot, but now I can't leave the area, or it bluescreens. Also, this is the Pitt, so currently, I'm stuck in the mill with no way out.
phoneyLogic
Does it happen with other games too?Is your hardware overclocked or sth? What's your OS (XP/Vista)?
Dragon9500
It doesn't happen with other games, the gpu came OC, xp. I got a patch on this site, it worked for a while. I beat the pitt. Now I can't leave. It bluescreens when I go back to the train yard. I just want to go back to the wasteland. I expected the Pitt to be fun, but this experience has been miserable. Would the CoC command work to get me back to the wasteland with a working map?
phoneyLogic
Would the CoC command work to get me back to the wasteland with a working map?The bluescreen is strange. If it would be a wrong driver, it should not only happen with fallout. So maybe it's a wrong gfx setting for the game. Just try to reset your graphic settings to medium or low - or better got to < Windows - Start - Menu > >> Documents >> My Games >> Fallout3 and move the following files ...FALLOUT.INIFalloutPrefs.iniRendererInfo.txt... to somewhere else. Run the Launcher and use the setting which will be set automatically.
