theLeeHarvey
Alright, I am having a problem with GECK. It simply won't load up. As soon as It starts I get the following error messages and then it crashes. 1st:http://i498.photobucket.com/albums/rr346/theLeeHarvey/geck1.jpg 2nd:http://i498.photobucket.com/albums/rr346/theLeeHarvey/geck2.jpg CRASH!!!:http://i498.photobucket.com/albums/rr346/theLeeHarvey/geck3.jpg I didn't notice the problem until after I installed Mothership Zeta, but I don't know exactly when it started as I hadn't opened GECK in a while even before adding on the addon. I have tried to clean install it, reinstall it and reinstall the latest patch for it. I have also updated to the latest unofficial patch in hopes that would help, but no luck. I've tried opening GECK with the DLCs deactivated and that didn't help either. My only remaining conclusion is that the problem is caused by some sort of conflict with Windows Vista, but I have never had a problem before, so I am thoroughly confused. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, LeeHarvey
Quetzlsacatanango
Try it with UAC disabled and see what happens.

overload1977
err did you reinstall it in the right place , ie in the fallout 3 folder not the data folder!!! if you did redownload geck and try again maybe your copy is messed up oh one other thing whats the windows error message you getting in Problem Reports and Solutions btw
theLeeHarvey
Hi Overload. Yes, I made sure to install it in the Fallout3 folder and not data. I tried two different copies of GECK to install and neither one is working. What confuses me are the files it says it cannot load. "CTL file", what's that? "Cannot load stars"...? When the windows error message finishes, It just closes and doesn't tell me any solutions or anything. That's why I'm so lost on this.

theLeeHarvey
ISSUE RESOLVED!!!! Through trial and error I figured out the problem I was having, though I don't understand it entirely. I could not open GECK and was getting the crashes because I was trying to open it via a shortcut pinned to my start menu. I don't know why this would cause GECK to crash on startup but it does. As long as you open it from it's .exe or from an unpinned start menu shortcut, it will work fine. BTW, Thanks for the bump Buddah, much appreciated. Maybe we should pin this for other members with the same problem in the future?
