KWorldsModBin
For a while now I've been looking for a mod that adds more buildings to the world. While I know that there are mods that already do this. What I'm talking about is adding static casinos, homes, skyscrapers that use a little resources as possible that are simply there to make the world feel more like it has been hit with a nuke and that Nevada was once more populated than it now looks. I was reminded by this idea by an image on the After War Nevada that can be viewed here. By doing this it would also make places like Primm look more like towns and cities instead of just places with one main focus/building and houses around it. I once considered doing this myself but unfortunately I have no talent in modelling. My talents are more recluded to programming and texturing. But anyway, just a suggestion. MarchUntoTorment
Don't have the skills to pull it off, but... just... yes. This needs to happen. Although conflicts would wreak utter havoc. You'd need to find a way to do this without major conflicts. And a way to have them appear in the distance, too, like New Vegas' towers do, instead of just when you get close. I was reminded by this idea by an image on the After War Nevada that can be viewed here So the strip itself is actually a mini-world, a separate world space, and that may be a saving grace in this instance. In my (ill informed) opinion, this may allow what you want to be done without it becoming a impossibly ginormous project. From teh outside of NV's walls there is virtually nothing except a few statics of casinos and anything that projects over the walls. From teh insdie of the strip there is virtually nothing beyond the walls except some mountins in the distance. From what I understand the developers did this to improve performance on consoles, which didn't have the horsepower to match PCs. This split world would allow you to put a crapload of junk (in the form of buildings) as a facade around teh fence (and probably taking up some of the surronding area) from the Mojave. If yuo cluster them close you might only need two or three buildings deep to fill in all the holes. Then scatter fallen buildings and other debris for a radius outside the surrounding area. Do the same thing in reverse from the strip, and because of the (assumed) dead space in between the two virtual layers you probably don't even have to sync the buildings. Just figure out about how many feet or miles the nearest nuke went off outside of Robert Houses's laser defense cannons and that can be the edge of where the facade starts. Maybe have several very large, blackened craters further out for the nukes that's the lasers didn't intercept. I think that would be appropriate considering Vegas is the only city worth targeting in FONV. That way you'd still end up with some decent performance, even with a whole bunch of statics. And I can cut off models so everything except the facing edge (ie the visible edge) is deleted. That should cut out 75% of the vertices. By doing this it would also make places like Primm look more like towns and cities instead of just places with one main focus/building and houses around it. I once considered doing this myself but unfortunately I have no talent in modelling. My talents are more recluded to programming and texturing. I woudln't do the same treatment with Primm. It's tiny (pop is something like 400). Instead I'd work on making the other two casinos that are there, and I think they have a big mall or something. But anyway, just a suggestion. And a good one. It's like there's this giant city (largest in teh state) and somehow only this tiny little portion remains. No craters, no debris of any significance, no nothing. Where did this city of millions of people disappear to? Yeah I agree with you KWorldsModBin, artistically/aesthetically speaking NV is a bust, a real disappointment. spiguelnexus
I think this concept brilliant, but I have concerns about performance wise... I can be wrong on that, but hey. maybe opening those planked houses... making it a common random house as like the normal opened ones. it bothers me so much this "locked" houses I even fool myself 'tcl-in, trying to enter in it, but ofc don't work...Also, a little off-topic, removing all the clutter from populated houses already! Well I could be wrong about this, but I don't think he's looking for more space, rather he wants NV to look like it's been near a nuclear detonation, twisted and destroyed buildings. It's the post apocalyptic look that he wants. Also, a little off-topic, removing all the clutter from populated houses already! I think there are some mods that clean up some areas on nexus already, might do a search for them.
MarchUntoTorment
I will sacrifice my firstborn child (when I get around to that whole business of having kids, anyway) to whoever can make NV feel post-apocalyptic, because I have yet to see anything that can quite manage that. No time to contribute to this mod, sadly, but I will be following its progress very closely.

I'll take a look at the nexus
