How do you get the scroll in the quest without becoming a criminal, she is right in the room with you, even with her back turned to you or becoming invisible nothing is working? Switch Posted August 24, 2003 Share Posted August 24, 2003 i honestly have no idea, there seems 2 be no way around getting caught. i suggest just take the scroll, run for it, drop the scroll on the floor along with anything else u've stolen from anywhere anytime in the game (probably simpler just 2 drop ur entire inventory including wot ur wearing) then talk to a guard and pay the 100 gold fine. HornedReaperMJL Posted August 27, 2003 Share Posted August 27, 2003 I know there was 2 quests like this or at least it seemed that way but with this one your talking about its hard not to be seen unless you got 100% chamleon. Really the easiest way is to steal it then go to a thieves guild and get your bounty removed (might need to be a member). Or have you tried talking to her maybe she'll let you buy a copy of the scroll or if her deposition is high enough give you a copy i know this doesnt work for the other quest where you are instructed to steal a recipe from Anis Seloth she refuses to give you a copy regardless of deposition. Jetty Posted August 28, 2003 Share Posted August 28, 2003 I had this same problem until I came upon this unhappy woman standing on a road west of Ald Velothi (Synette was her name if I remember correctly). Picked her ring out of the lake and ... got a nasty fight on my hands. Ring was almost useless but what a surprise - ladie's half-visible boyfriend had an Amulet of Shadows (80% cahameleon) on his corpse.Now back to Balmora South Wall. Stand before door, use amulet, hold sneak, hit open, Sottilde is just at a talking distance, hit talk, take code book, turn around and out you go.This was just an example. Did the same with Vivec's alchemist, stole propylon index from Maar Gan shrine in the same manner and lots of other stuff. No guard alerts, no bounty, no fines. IMHO outcome of those action depends on your security skill. During those ventures mine was somewhere between 40 and 50. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Wait until the shopkeeper turns her back and walks away, ;) (moves right) go into sneak mode and pick up the scroll. I did this and left the room. I've returned with the scroll in my posession to see if she would notice. No problem. I might try to sneak it back since it isn't taken from me when I return to Hlaalu and display it.
