devinpatterson
I think a larger ranger (forest service, not NCR/Desert) station with a/some protectron forest rangers would be interesting. Rig the ranger hat to them.
theDemonJackal
Now see that I like. I love the idea of other groups trying to force the tribals from their land. And lets say these rangers are from a nearby station/commuinity. With this in mind, maybe they are programmed to believe that the Park is still active, and that these people have been tresspassing on Private property for too long. So force must be taken. The tribals (including any of the prior ones mentioned) are forced to work together against this new threat. (like after killing a few of them already.)Or hell maybe this new threat is interfering in peace talks between the Burnt man Tribe, Black Sands/Blade Prayers, and The New Canon Tribes. devinpatterson
Now see that I like. Cool because I'm kinda itching to make the model now. I'm at work so I can't really detail this, but just two short blurbs (and I'll detail them later). 1.Jean Eugène Robert-Houdin used "magic" (a magician he used an elctro magnet) to to put down a revolt in Algeria. I could see something similar being used to impress or even control the more primitive tribes. 2. I could see a big follower of the apocalypse quest line helping tribabls with medicine, childbirth, disease, all kinds of things. A very altuistic set of adventures. theDemonJackal
I can see that actually. The followers could seek you out ,because you are close to the tribes.

Nexusaurus
I think maybe there could be a park ranger tribe. The Park Rangers were descendants of old world park rangers who fled to the relative safety of the forest. They wear battered park ranger outfits and follow their ancestor's traditions of conserving the forest and protecting it from those who would exploit it. They would hold a special hatred for abominations, since they mess up the ecosystem.
theDemonJackal
Exactly my thoughts. The Park rangers descendants could follow the rules as scripture and take it to the extreme. Like as you appraoch the forest and their tribes camp, the land is littered with the corpses of the NCR (Dont feed the bears, put down the feral bears, etc.) because thier is a bear on their flag. The rangers could even speak in a broken english fashion due to the deteriation of their written word. The Dead Trees could be their name. Or something related to the forest. Yeah I think we could have several different "seed" tribes that begin to make their appearance if the Sorrows exit Zion....there's a vacuum there and something will fill it. Note it's also possible for us to include new tribes even if the other tribes don't move out, by expanding teh world space (bit more work). So on teh seed tribes US national forest staff could certainly be one. They'd (I'd assume) have a better start than most, with food, skills and equipment. Another can be hardcore Xtreme athletes/rock climbers. I havn't checked specifically but I'm guessing Zion contains some pretty high rating 5 climbs. That means you could have some very serious, maybe even world class athletes. If the group was big enough and could make it through the first few months like Randall did, it could produce a viable tribe. A less likely scenario (since they were'nt in the park when the nukes hit) would be native americans. I have to run, so I havn't compared the map, but if there is a reservation near Zion, it's likely they could reach the park. None of the reservations would be bombed (not a military or strategic target) and if they'r anything like the reservations around here, the roads out would be clear (not trafic jam death traps like those around metropolitan areas). theDemonJackal
The tribes are suppose to be a reference to the indian plantations though arent they? At least thats the feeling I always got from the game. That this was the tribal evironment before the westerners came to the land. So the next step would be the outlanders invading their land trying to push them out. Anyways, I like the idea that these other smaller tribes are beginging to appear now that the war of the three big ones are over. There can even be a joke tribe of two people. This can allow for a variety of tribals and the like. Like tribals whose beliefs vary from "The Expulsion of the visual world" (blinding yourself) to "The Pathway of Venom" (Purposly injestion of dangerous amounts of Cazador venom.) Hell, as Sgt Kraigo said the Blade Prayers could be the rivals of the Black sands, and he gives a pretty good idea as to their belief system. While not all tribes need an ethos, it helps if they say (As I said) the Blade Prayers worship a Mantis, showing that while they are a very dangerous tribe they are also very superstitous.
