webhead91 Posted March 26, 2014 Posted March 26, 2014 (edited) dear modding community this is the second thread i made in here, and you could say i'm new here, but also to modding in general.it was by a suggestion of a fellow gamer by the name of "Kraeten"so i thought i might as well install other mods to add new content, and immersion. however,i been eying mods that change gameplay such as the requiem overhaul or the character creation mod,and I've got to say i like them a lot.however i am worried it may pose compatibility problems (since the requiem mod includes lots of changes that other specific mods could bring),and also that it may break the game itself since it changes core elements of it.i am also worried that some may not be very lore friendly like the immersive armor mod or the frostfall mod (i mean skyrim weather is harsh, sure, but not that much that you may die of cold or something) or change the gameplay too much until it can be barely called elder scrolls anymore (but i haven't seen such problems because most of them stay true to the spirit of the series) I'll list down here the mods that I'm interested in by category:------------------------------------------------------immersion----------------------------------------------------------Realistic Needs and DiseasesGuard Dialogue OverhaulFrostfall - Hypothermia Camping Survivaltotal realism-basic needs------------------------------------------------------cut content---------------------------------------------------------Enhanced Skyrim Factions - The Companions GuildResearch ThiefHelgen RebornThe Paarthurnax DilemmaThe Choice is Yours - Fewer Forced Quests - Improved Dialogue OptionsCivil war overhaul-----------------------------------------------------Quests and new lands---------------------------------------FalskaarWyrmstoothMoonpath to ElsweyrHunting in SkyrimUndeath------------------------------------------------------fighting mod-------------------------------------------------Duel - Combat RealismUltimate Combat-----------------------------------------------------gameplay mod----------------------------------------------Character Creation Overhaul - Races - Birthsigns - Classes - Skills - Specializations - AttributesRequiem - The Roleplaying OverhaulStealth Skills Rebalanced - Sneak - Lockpicking - Pickpocket-----------------------------------------------------miscellaneous------------------------------------------------unofficial patch skyrimimmersive armors that is all. see you everyone and take care Edited March 27, 2014 by webhead91
Georgiegril Posted March 26, 2014 Posted March 26, 2014 My suggestion to you is to read every word writen regarding each mod--description, readme, and discussion pages. Many mod authors give very specific installation/removal instructions. Mods with ongoing issues can be identified by reading the discussion pages. Some mods (like CWO) require you to start a new game if you decide to remove it. After that, look at the mods you are still interested in. Test them thoroughly one at a time. If you decide not to use it, remove exactly as instructed by the mod author, then revert to a save from before you first added that mod. This should prevent problems with orphaned scripts. People can tell you what they like and use, but ultimately they are playing the game with a different set of variables (as well as personal tastes) and cannot tell you for certain if any mod will work well for you. Read everything and test thoroughly.
webhead91 Posted March 26, 2014 Author Posted March 26, 2014 (edited) very well i shall keep it in mind. and i already started reading and testing a few. i shall post on the results that i got out of it.thank you for the reply and see you soon Edited March 26, 2014 by webhead91
webhead91 Posted March 29, 2014 Author Posted March 29, 2014 OK so I've been looking around here and there. i tried a few mods. problems started showing up however once installed cutting room floor, enhanced guilds: companions and the unofficial skyrim patch.i was trying on a clean save by loading it each time and see what happens when i add/delete a mod, like you said. but i had the same problem over and over again:the "join the companions" quest doesn't get triggered. and i think the unofficial patch is the one causing this trouble. i also checked the requiem compatibility forum and i saw lots of compatibility issues with other mods, but i think those got fixed in the latest version,so idk. now,my question is,if a mod start working well,is there it chance it could mess up the game later on ?i mean just imagine you've done lots of stuff and then bam ! you'd get a game braking glitch from the mod. and I'm only talking about mods that change the core gameplay mechanics. that is all,for now. see you around and tc.
