Zeppelins in the Mojave

Now, I'd just like to say that it would be neat if someone could make giant, flyable zeppelins, but that is not my goal. I just want someone to edit the sky dome so that you can see zeppelins moving across the sky. I don't know how lore friendly that is, but it could definitely be possible. if this gets off the ground (heh) then maybe we could work to add some small quests, or a way to teleport to a zeppelin worldspace high up in the sky. but until then, I will be content with seeing these airships floating across the desert sky.

Alternative= Massive, mutated, flying whales. same principle, just edit the sky dome.

just choose whichever floats your boat. let me know if you think you can do it, and feel free to ask any questions you may have.

In Fallout Tactics the brotherhood did use zeppelins to travel to the midwest, but that game is considered semi-canon.

But unless you're floating them with hot air (which doesn't have much lifting capacity compared to helium or hydrogen), where are you getting the lighter than air gas? I suppose you could electrolyze water to generate hydrogen, assuming you don't mind if your airship can blow up.

It doesn't have to be 100% lore friendly, we know that the BoS could have had airships.

I'd assume from pre-war plants (there should be tanks of compressed helium around the place from pre-war airships) and, as you said, electrolysed water to make hydrogen (hydrogen isn't that dangerous - airships used it for many years before the Hindenburg disaster).

Wasn't Hydrogen one of the main reasons the Hindenburg disaster happened?

Correct; due to a lightning strike, actually, which breached the surface of the airship and ignited the hydrogen within. But given how many airships operated and how often they flew, the hydrogen system was actually pretty reliable as long as you avoided severe weather conditions (90% of airship crashes were due to inclement weather).

Hydrogen is highly flammable, but when properly sealed and handled, it's not particularly dangerous unless something goes very wrong.

Well, I'm not saying that there needs to be a quest about them, I just think it would be neat to have the sky look less... empty.

there could easily just be a note explaining that they were from canada or something.

I'm not sure if the sky whales are doable, though. maybe they could fight the zeppelins, if they get added on at all.
