tehweave
I love running mods on fallout 3, but no matter what I do, the game quits on me constantly. It used to be every time I entered the area around arefu, if I tried to save, enter a building, or quicktravel, the game would exit to windows. But now I've re-installed it 3 times... With mods, without mods, I've deleted countless save files, and it seems to be doing it more periodically. I was in the middle of the Super-Duper Mart and after looting a corpse it quit. I was wandering the wasteland, a deathclaw killed me, and the game quit. I entered megaton, the game quit. I need help. I spent money on the new DLCs but I can't get the game to play no matter what! The game is meant to play with mods, but even without them its still crashing! Has anyone else experienced this or am I truly alone in the universe? :wallbash:
macmert
ok just a little info first? OS? System specs? first defrag your HDD, then update all your drivers, create some disc space in your HDD... Also does your PC meet the minimum requirements? girls4me2
I originally thought it was just me, but I can now say that this has been happening to me since the 1.7 patch. Getting to arefu is starting to piss me off. I have no idea why its happening, just that its been happening to me since i've had the 1.7 patch installed and mothership zeta. tehweave
Good. I mean, it's bad that 1.7 is doing this, but I'm glad its not just for me. Is there a way to run a patch before 1.7 without re-installing the ENTIRE game?
macmert
@tehweave : I guess you can run an older patch and go back... @girls4me2 : Well I am not sure what causes your CTD but you may try the ffdshow fix, my game is working fine now that I installed the latest ffdshow... Just google it and give it a try...
gsmanners
There are a wide variety of things that can trigger these bugs in this game: http://www.bethsoft.com/bgsforums/index.php?showtopic=890373 You really need to read through the troubleshooting posts before you have a prayer of running this game somewhat stably, and even with all this there's still the chance of random CTDs, freezes, and corrupted save game files.
