Need help with CTD on Startup.

So I keep crashing on startup. It goes to the loading screen then before the game would start it will crash. This usually indicates a bad load order or conflicting mods. Here is my BOSS list. See anything I need to move around and change?

Also there is a flicker on the rotating 3D model during the load screen that happens about 3-5 seconds before it crashes
Btw I just installed Realvision ENB Full option B for Climates of Tamriel and EL&FX and it loaded but would freeze or crash after only 2-3 minutes walking around outside of Helgen caves on a new save. Guess it couldnt handle all the textures outside and hit the 3.1 GB limit?

Then it just started freezing on startup and I dont know what is causing it.

For the freezing and crashing in game, I changed this value from 2000: VideoMemorySizeMb=6000 in the enblocal.ini according to this http://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/1191042-enb-ctd-fix/ suggestion. And also increased this from 64: ReservedMemorySizeMb=512

My computer specs are this

Intel i5 2300 Quad core sandy bridge 2.8 Ghz

6GB system RAM

1.5 TB HDD

MSi GTX 760 2GB OC Gaming Edition

Don't know anything about your ENB issue, but CTD during the logo screen is typically a mod dependency issue, which means you are trying to load a plugin that is dependent on a master which is missing from your load order. You can find out which plugin it is and which master it's missing by using Wrye Bash, or loading all of your plugins in TES5Edit. If TES5Edit stops loading and bounces an error message, the plugin that halts the loading and generates the error is the plugin that is missing a (or more) master.

 

While we are on the topic of TES5Edit, you should download it from the link in your BOSS log, follow the instructions on the same page, and clean the plugins flagged by your BOSS log as containing 'dirty edits' (except the plugins where BOSS explicitly states it's not necessary), including the DLC and update esm's. You will need to remove identical to master entries as well as undelete/disable deleted references.

So cleaning with TESSEdit is not a bad thing to do? I've heard different reports not to do that, kinda like not messing with uGrids. And do you have a good tutorial video on how to use TESSEdit? I already had it installed.

since you just installed Realvision and your also getting a crash after a few minutes of gameplay make sure your graphics card is the one processing the grphics and not your CPU.....easy way to fix this is to get the latest ENB for skyrim...

 

your crash at startup is a mod dependecy issue as someone said earlier

Hate to burst the bubble for BOSS lovers but more than once BOSS has messed

up my load order where I had to go in there and tweak it....might want to look at some peoples working load oders and compare it to yours also with that many mods you probably have mods that are affecting each other .....particularly the SPOT where you are at in your save...try going way back on your save files see if you can find a stable one....saving in multiple houses in different cities is what I do in case this happens.....again troubleshooting man dont give up

So cleaning with TESSEdit is not a bad thing to do? I've heard different reports not to do that, kinda like not messing with uGrids. And do you have a good tutorial video on how to use TESSEdit? I already had it installed.

There are a number of 'Skyrim modding myths' floating around the internet, in spite of best efforts to stamp them out. Cleaning plugins will have no adverse effects on plugins as long as it is done properly. Stick to cleaning the plugins I mentioned (those identified by BOSS as containing 'dirty edits', and where BOSS has not explicitly stated the 'dirty edits' are intentional). The link the BOSS log contains the instructions for proper cleaning, video and text.

You are not bursting anyone's bubble, but you are perpetuating yet another 'Skyrim modding myth', which is that BOSS 'mess up' load orders. BOSS provides a template load order based on community input that, 99% of the time, works better than any random load order you will find from unverified sources on the internet. It's fine for more experienced users to modify BOSS established load orders, especially to accommodate plugins not recognized by BOSS (which is necessary), but a heavily modded load order without the assistance of BOSS is almost guaranteed to be a disaster.

I never checked it again, but SoS was causing me to crash at startup too because I'm missing Sound Propagation Overhaul (which was removed from Nexus). Apparently, I downloaded a wrong version of the mod (which required SPO). Try removing SoS and see if it fixes your case. If it does, check that you downloaded the correct version, or switch to Audio Overhaul for Skyrim.

Yeah, BOSS kinda messed with my load order alot. I usually just go down the list and look at the pre requisites. Also I will look into the SoS. I hear the sounds in game but I will undo it. And my save games are kinda non-existant because I just uninstalled and reinstalled my game. I think I may have actually erased some mods that were manually installed with the folders...so hell knows what I am missing lol That might be part of the problem, though the game did work even after all my modding I did after I reinstalled. I need to remember what ones I added AFTER I did Helgen.. Also... as for the game and my system... Skyrim Performance Monitor usually said I was using about 2 GB of VRAM and 950 MB of system ram when it crashed. Was that it hitting the 3.1 GB mark? I dont understand the limit. Is it just system RAM or Vram + system RAM? I have heard both. And this was after I installed Realvision. Could it just be there were too many textures and lighting and script mods that it piled up real fast and froze/crashed?

Oh, and how many people actually have this many and type of mods and have a semi-stable game? As in only crash once every 2-3 hours or longer?

I have around 180 or so plugins in my load order, my PC is 4+ years old, and I average around maybe...1 CTD every 3 months (I play in 'bursts', but total play hours would average to about 2-6 hours a day, longest continuous play session might be 8 hours, with some breaks in beween). You just have to be meticulous about maintaining a clean and well organized modded installation, be mindful of the quality of mods you install (I always look through plugin records of mods prior to installing those mods, and check their scripts if source files are provided, even open up meshes in NifSkope to make sure they are not faulty), and learning to use the modding tools available to you, like BOSS, TES5Edit, and Wyre Bash, that are intended to make the process easier and more efficient.
