zammy
dunno if anyone looks at this forum anymore, but ive had morrowind and expansions for years, but i've never bothered to install them. i want to do it now, cos i feel im missing out. however, im worried about my original game being ruined. could someone explain to me (in very fine detail plz), once you become a warewolf, or a vampire, can you cure yourself/change back?? (also, what order do u install the expansions?). Once youve installed the exp'ns, is morrowind quest still the main one? or do you get another major quest to do? also, technically: are the expansions just mods/plugins (obviously very big plugins, lol) to morrowind? ive just started modding aswell - i suspect its a bad idea to add ur mods, and THEN install the exp'ns? (just to confirm lol) i think thats everythinbut knowing me, ill prolly come up with more q's
Marxist ßastard
once you become a warewolf, or a vampire, can you cure yourself/change back?? A ritual can be performed by some cultists to change you permanently back to human form after an encounter with lycanthropy, but you'll be given ample warning and time to cure the disease before the effects even initially take place -- this also applies to vampires, even though they aren't part of any expansion, being in vanilla Morrowind. Additionally, Hircine's Ring can be used to counteract lycanthropy. what order do u install the expansions? It must be Morrowind, followed by Tribunal, followed by Bloodmoon, and finally the 1.6 patch (no other official patches should be applied). is morrowind quest still the main one? Installing the expansions will not interfere with playing Morrowind in any way (with the exception of your being notified of travel becoming available to each of the expansion areas); Bethesda was very careful about this, and only added a sum total of three NPCs to Vvardenfell as part of both expansions (they were so cautions, in fact, that the boatman to Solstheim doesn't even have his own boat). Each expansion has a main quest line associated with it (taking place on the landmass that the expansion adds, of course) that you can complete at your leisure. are the expansions just mods/plugins They are Elder Scrolls master files, and thus can be referred to as a plugin dependency -- this also has the unfortunate effect of making it so that you cannot edit them directly in the CS. You can, however, create plugins of your own that change them (which, with a little bit of a hack, you can merge into the master files) or change the type of each expansion's data file to ESP, which will allow editing. Data files aside, each expansion includes all previous patches to the game engine (hence why install order is significant), and themselves act like a patch, bringing the version of the Morrowind executable up and adding new features (Tribunal adds a huge amount of things to the game, and Bloodmoon adds some new script functions, along with thwo new weather types, probably among other things). zammy
so wait a sec. once you plunge into the tribunal and bloodmoon expansions, and become (either) a warewolf or a vampire, there's no turnimg back??? you have to complete the rest of the game with every soul (probably even caius's) trying to kill you?? once the effect of the warewolf is permenant, i take it your on four legs, and (im guessing here) you have no clothes and no inventory to use (as you can't carry anything, and you can't use anything due to lack of thumbs)? Sorry, but where is the attraction in that? I always thought the main attraction to bloodmoon was the warewolf! Also, could you please explain the advantages/disadvantages to being a vampire? i know the Vampire's Mythology - i just find it hard to picture it being represented in the game. Also - if ur a vampire, wouldn't everyone attack you? dont get me wrong, they're probably great expansions, and there's more to them than just the creatures, but i always thought of the expansions being optional. from what i understand, once you load your game win the expansions installed, you are bound to them (that is, you cannot play your game without the expansions, as you have interacted within them?)? (this i why i ask if they are plugins, as you can easily disable them)
Peregrine
You're a bit confused here. Vampires were in the basic Morrowind game, and have nothing to do with the expansions. Werewolves are not a permanent change (there's a cure, and you can avoid the entire werewolf aspect entirely whle still playing the Bloodmoon storyline), and are actually easier to play than vampires, since as long as you don't get caught changing you can still interact with NPCs. And the change is only at night, not 24 hours a day.
Malchik
You can disable the expansions as easily as you can disable any added modification or plug in. The reason they are called 'expansions' as opposed to plug-ins is that each is very extensive with main and miscellaneous quests not connected to the MW main quest. As such they are small games, But then so are some mods!
