UberBender
Ok, so I'm looking through my character sheet for Scipio (kudos to whoever can name where thats from), my level four halfling thief, and I see this odd item Rollfroster, Self-Operating Anyone know what a self-operating rollfroster is?! Please, I'm out of my mind with curiosity!
Peregrine
Err, what game is this from? One of the PC games? If it's just a pen/paper game, it could be anything the DM felt like making. I do know it's not an official item in the pen/paper game.
UberBender
Pen & Paper DND. Edit: BTW, He didn't make it up, he has no idea.
Stampede
Being a DM myself, this is a completely new one for me. Scipio was a famous Roman general if I am not mistaken, very cool name. Rollroster came up with nothing and Self Operating, from what I could find, is normally associated with items or objects...guess that does not help you much though. Well, let me put it this way: it's not in any of the d&d books I have, and I've got most of the current ones. Not only that, but it sounds like some silly fake item. So my guess is, even if your DM didn't make it up, he didn't get it from an official source.

Well UB, you got my curiosity sparked too, so I dug out my old AD&D books (I had to go into the attic today anyhow to get the xmas tree down, before the wife starts on at me!). Not claiming that I know the exact answer, but here's my best shot. I only found 1 reference to a rollfroster - Player's Option (Skills & Powers book), Chp 7 (Wep proficiency & mastery), Special demihuman equipment, Table 71-Halfling equipment. Phew! Its listed there under "Utensils (self-lighting)", along with Carving Knife, Cooking Kettle, Teapot etc. Not quite sure what a slef-lighting carving knive is, but given all the other items are to do with food & drink, I would suggest chilling device - like a portable fridge? - that keeps rolls (I believe Americans call them "subs") fresh & ready to eat on a journey.
