CloudCleaver23
I'm just starting to mod casually (mainly just swapping meshes I don't like with those that I do), and I'd like to make a particular sword look like Umbra. I can't seem to find Umbra's mesh in my data directory though, along with the mesh for Namira's Ring and some other assorted things. Are these meshes hidden, located elsewhere, marked as unusable? How can I get these meshes so I can assign them to other items?
LHammonds
If you are not actually wanting to giggle meshes around but create new items that already exist in Oblivion, simply find that object (Umbra) and change the name to something else like "mysword" and let the CS create a new form. You now have a new umbra sword that you can change the name, stats, enchantment and such and place anywhere you like. Also, if you have not "extracted" your BSA files, you will not see them in the Construction Set to pick from. The method above is the best way to utilize items that already exist in the game so you don't have to distribute anything but the .esp plugin. But if you want to make physical changes to the umbra model or change textures, then you would need to extract the files from the BSA files that shipped with the game.
