OpenWorldAddict
The problem with followers in Skyrim is that they are so dull. They just follow you around where you want to go, do want to do, and carry all of your extra junk. After playing with them awhile it starts to feel like that your followers are more like servants then companions. I don't like this and it breaks the immersion of the game for me. Now there a lot of custom-voiced follower mods that include having a complex background and being quest aware. However they too start to feel like they are servants after awhile. A true immersive follower mod is one that provides a follower that does not only have a detailed background, but the follower begins to feel like he/she is an actual member of your adventuring party. The follower should have his/her own goals, including giving YOU quests that they want your help in. They should have feelings and likes and dislikes. You should be able to develop friendships with your follower. The follower should talk to you from time to time, and even other followers. Now, as far as I know there are only two mods like this:Vilja in Skyrim, and Anduniel. That is not enough for me. It is only two mods, and both characters are female. I want to see alot more, male and female, of all different races. I want more immersive followers.
chanchan05
Try Inigo
OpenWorldAddict
I heard that in that follower mod, that follower has problems when working with other followers. When I play Skyrim, I play with up to 5 Followers.
Ketchaval
Ha, just had an amusing idea .. a follower that occasionally asks YOU to hold their junk / loot for them. This could be a neat way of giving more of an impression that they aren't just another automaton. Of course many players might get a little-bit annoyed if they were being told to hold stuff of no real value. *I reckon it would be possible to have it so they get mad at you if you sell of their cool item too! (Implementing this would be a matter of balance). Edit: 2 thumbs up for Inigo, my favourite companion when I don't have Anduniel or Nadina. I agree there needs to be more individuality, characters need to be more opinionated. Other suggestions: There's also Vath Firehall, I haven't tried playing with him but you can tell him to take the lead like Vilja. Companion Valfar hates Imperials, and Hoth is a brutal bounty hunter that takes trophies from his kills (not tried Hoth). Odvar the Afflicted is drunk / hungover and vomits a lot (but I've not tried him). Skyrimgems.com has a lot of nice suggestions. To second the O.P's request more like these of a variety of races / professions would be great!
OpenWorldAddict
More people have been making followers like Vilja that are more immersive. Brodual just did a spotlight on Arissa. I did some testing with Arissa, and she looks decent. Of course, I haven't spent much time with her, so after several hours of gameplay will I find out if she is truly and immersive follower. I also heard that Cerwiden got an update, with things that might make her more immersive, again it will just take some testing to find out. So far I have: Vilja, Anduniel, Arissa, and Cerwiden. Problem: All of them are women. Can't i have an immersive male follower?
AfroSama
As a previous poster said, yeah try Inigo despite what you may have heard about conflicts (I never had any and I used EFF). Additionally Interesting NPC's has a lot of custom voiced followers. And last but not least here you go: A male custom voiced High Elf follower. www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/39453
draconisking
Yes you should indeed try out Interesting NPCs. The mod adds a hell lot of custom voiced followers with their own background, personnality etc. Furthermore they can (not all but still there are some) interact with other followers and /or NPCs (both vanilla and from the mod). After travelling with them for a while you will be able to unlock quests that reveal another part of their background and may completely change your Relationship with them. A lot of these quests are even linked between different folowers so you'll have to meet a lot of new npcs in order to unlock everything. For example a certain NPC called Callen mentions she is in Skyrim to help out a friend she pissed of by spilling his food, you can actually find this friend before the quest, and when you have her with you they will react on each other telling you they don't want to talk to each other because of their previous dispute. So to put things simply: It is a great mod and if you're looking for some awesome followers that really fit into the game you should try it out. OpenWorldAddict
I believe I found what i was looking for. It's called Anna's NPC's: http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/58357/?It's done by the same woman who did Anduniel (Anduniel is actually included in version 2 of that mod now) and includes a number a custom voiced male and female follower charaters who each have unique background stories as well as quests. Cool mod. Thanks for your help.
