DarNified UI 1.3.2 doesn't save settings, Horse Commands don't

Why is it that when I make adjustments to settings, such as setting the Scale to something other than 50, it's reset to the default the next time I play Oblivion? I don't have any mods other than DarNified UI 1.3.2 installed which should cause a conflict.

Oblivion isn't crashing upon exit, and everything else seems fine. I tried re-reading the install notes, to no avail.

Not sure if it matters, but I used Oblivion Mod Manager 1.1.12 to install DarNified UI and all other mods. Those "other mods," fwiw, are as follows:

All_In_One_Basement_7_OMOD-2556.omod

Borderless Cyrodiil 1.0.omod

Boris' Bedrolls 1.0.omod

Color Map Mod(1.1).omod

DarNified UI 1.3.2.omod

Gabrielle Companion 1.0.omod

House Fast Travel 1.0.omod

kuertee Horse commands 4.2.omod

Script Extender 17.omod

I also used the Operation_Optimization_v1.1.1-10510.exe patch, as well as the Unofficial Oblivion Patch v3.2.0, before installing the DarNified UI. Previous to that, Oblivion was patched to the highest "vanilla" level (1.2.0416).

Shivering Isles and Knights of the Nine expansions were also present, and were patched to the highest available level before I started installing any mods.

The horse commands don't work either. They are supposed to show up as a "minor power" but I get nothing, and the default control keys (/ etc.) do nothing.

Thanks!

UPDATE:

Well that was quick. I found the solution online shortly after posting. Turns out you CAN'T save settings to the DarNified UI from within the game, for obscure reasons. I made the change in one of the DarN UI config files and now it's as desired every time I play Oblivion.

I'm still not sure why Kurhee's Horse Commands don't work, though. Any ideas?

AS far as the horse commands, the most likely problem (on an assumption since you didn't mention it) is that it needs OBSE to run. I don't know that mod, but that sounds like the problems you get when you try to load an OBSE dependant mod without OBSE.

OBSE is super easy to install once and then never think about it again. Plenty of support for it so google that bad boy. Then, assuming it actually was the issue with that mod, you're in business.

I do have OBSE installed, version 0017.

Another thing I need to do is DarNify the books. At present, they look goofy and are hard to read, because everything is in huge capital letters. It's like they're all from the Large Print collection at the library.

Unfortunately, I'm running into other problems. In this thread: (DarNify UI discussion thread) there is a discussion about DarNifying the books. The link given there to download Wrye Bash is dead, but I found it here on the Nexus files area. I did find and install Python 3.1.1 for Windows, but apparently some other libraries and stuff are required for Wrye Bash to work.

It doesn't help that the primary Wrye Bash website (http://wrye.ufrealms.net/) is missing in action. But, the readme.txt included with the Wrye Bash download I mentioned above is reasonably informative.

I've found references to an .exe that automagically installs everything you need to get Wrye Bash working, but the only place I see to download it is here: http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=OblivionUtilities.Detail&id=44| Wrye Python://http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.c...44| Wrye Python wants me to sign up for Another. Damn. Account. I am sick and tired of having to register at someone's forums every stinking time I want to downlaod a 4 kb file. I certainly don't feel like doing it now. Maybe later, if I can't find it anywhere else. For now, when I try to run Wrye Bash (e.g. "python.exe bash.py" at the Command Prompt when in the proper folder), I get the following errors:

Traceback (most recent call last):
 File "bash.py", line 56, in <module>
import bosh, basher
 File "J:\Library\downloads\game files\updates\Oblivion\mods\Wrye_Bash_271-2236
8\Mopy\bosh.py", line 82
oiMask = 0xFFFFFFL
				 ^

I'm sure I'll get it figured out sooner or later. Even with the books looking slightly goofy, DarNify is a huge improvement over the default UI.

here is a solution for your first problem, same one I ran in to. Looks like the only way to premanently save the hud settings is by changing what you need, alt+tab to the config file and edit it with notepad to match what you change in game... here is a link of DarN explaining it. http://darnified.net/forums/articles/configuring_ui_33.0.html
