What Will You Do In Oblivion?

Spend a lot of time creating my character, and then proceed to attempt to roleplay him completely. Stealing stuff without getting caught (much), backstabbing people where appropriate, but otherwise being reasonably good.

I want to travel the entire way around the edge of the world. How long a journey will that be? At least fourteen miles I think and maybe forty. What lies on the edges to keep me in? Will there be unscalable peaks and fatally high cliffs? Maybe I'll find impenetrable forests, unswimmable rivers, and a magickal barrier of blue mist with a dire telepathic warning, "NO MORTALS MAY PASS HERE."

I'm going to move from city to city picking the pockets of the wealthy, maybe case and raid a couple of houses, temples, manors, and spend all of my loot in the pubs. Pretty much make a name for myself as a good thief. I also plan to start cleaning out the local highwaymen to lessen competition. There can be only ONE!

I can't wait to skulk about the Imperial City, it's gotta be huge with many dark alleyways, perfect for a thief like me to stretch my light-fingers and practice my trade.

I so can't wait to ghost the AI on this too. Nothing says bad a.ss like raiding a manor and ghosting the taffers who were supposed to be guarding it.

Just so you know, it's generally a good idea to make sure your posts have some decent level of content. A post like that is known as a one-liner and is generally considered lazy posting, and spam. Please try to add a little more before you post. Thanks. ^^

Yeah. I've read it's three times the size of Vivec. I want to wander through the Imperial City until I get lost. Be careful in the darkest alleys and in the sewers though. That's where the headquarters of the Dark Brotherhood are likely to be.

I want to be arrested and then break out of jail on the same night. There are several ways to escape from jail in Oblivion. I've heard you can't even join the Thieves Guild unless you've already been arrested for a crime.

I want to pet one of the fluffy white sheep I've seen in Oblivion screenshots.

Maybe, on my second or third character, i go for this Robin Hood approach. I steal from the rich, and give it to the poor. With the RAI they should pick the gold up then.. Break into a poor mans house while he is asleep and place a few hundred coins on his table. Sneak into a dark corner, watch him wake up and get the money. Another good deed done. :)

After I get out of that stinking jail cell I'm heading straight for Septim's Castle/Mansion/whatever to clean the old guy out. Then back to town to sell the loot to a merchant...or 7, use the proceeds to get the whole tavern drunk, start a bar room brawl, slip out and return later to loot the unconscious patrons for clothes, money, whatever, sell them, buy some nice black clothes and slip into the shadows to become a full time thief...and so on...

I'm nice really...

I have soo many things I want to try in this game, I cant even begin to think of them all. My problem with these games, is I want to be able to do everything at once. I must have restarted morrowind at least 5 times before I even found a character that I liked enough to keep.

I love to wield huge deadly weapons, while sneaking through houses and rooms stealing loot to fund my magic training. LOL I can never decide which way I want to go, since I love all the types of game play.

Does anyone know how the enchantments are going to work? Or even if they are included in the Oblivion? Enchanting weapons, amulets and armor was always my favorite pass time on Morrowind. I've made some pretty useful tools way back when in Morrowind.

I think this is correct but it's hard to keep track of all the new information:

Enchant in Oblivion

Enchant is no longer a skill but one of the fringe benefits of being high in the Mages Guild.

Clothing enchantments = all constant effect

Armor enchantments = all constant effect

Weapon enchantments = all cast on strike

Jewelry enchantments = all constant effect

Staffs/staves/wands are the only implements that will cast targeted magic. You can't enchant your own staff. You have to find/buy the magical staves.

Enchanted items must be recharged with filled soulgems. You can do this yourself if you are high in the Mages Guild or it can be done by NPC mages in towns.

Soul Trap still exists.

Lots more pre-filled soulgems are to be found by adventurers in Cyrodiil!

Sigil Stones add 2 effect enchantments.
