Waterfront district odd AI

Whilst playing Oblivion recently, I went to the Shivering Isles this is what I suspect broke the AI, but I have no idea to be certain. :confused: I Quick traveled to the portal, left into the main world, then fast traveled to my IC house. :thumbsup: Upon entering my house I stored my stuff, and left the house. When I got outside all the AI seemed to be broke. Pretty much just standing there with the default standing pose. No one doing their routines and I have no direct links to what have possibly caused this. :wallbash:

That is really weird. I know that Shivering Isles can cause problems with NPCs having no GREETING. I think it is especially bad if people use mods to teleport out of the Shivering Isles, but you used the portal like you are supposed to. In my case, I have a couple of Golden Saints with no GREETING that hang around outside Bravil castle.

 

I suggest that you play the game some more and see if the problem goes away. It will probably go away real soon if it is going to go away. I guess you have already exited Oblivion and started it again? If the problem won't go away, you might try loading a savegame from right before the problem occurred and play-test that. I really can't see how a mod would be big enough and dirty enough to remove most of the AI Packages from all the NPCs. It is hopefully just the vanilla game temporarily glitching.

I restarted my game and it still didn't fix it, that time I hadn't even gone to the SI. It's odd. No crashing, thankgod, I can actually exit the game thanks to cleaning most of my files, the ones I couldn't clean didn't appear on the CS. I have a very very very very (x10 to the power of 10) basic understanding of CS. But not enough to rework AI packages.

You have a great many mods. I suspect you have been sitting on a time bomb for awhile. The problem was latent and did not reveal itself until recently when you went somewhere new or did something new.

 

I suggest that you disable every last one of your mods and see if the problem is gone. That test will tell you if it is a mod problem, or a vanilla Oblivion problem. If it is a mod problem, then you might try turning your mods back on, one eighth of them at a time, carefully recording what you turn on when. Play-test for an hour or so between installations. If you get them all turned back on without causing the problem, then it is a tricky hidden problem which might come back to haunt you again when you least expect it. A problem which you might never isolate. But at least you will know that the problem can be temporarily eliminated by the mass mod-disabling.
