Megatarius
I actually like the idea of the tutorial dungeon, and the whole being in prison at the beginning thing. Just because your character isn't evil doesn't mean they can't be mistakenly convicted. Isn't there a corrupt guard quest in Imperial City anyway? It works fine for me. But the tutorial dungeon is way too easy, even for the first level. I started thinking about what would make a really fun and challenging (within reason) tutorial dungeon. I'm talking about something that gives you real feeling of accomplishment upon exiting the sewer. I'd like to give it a shot, but I've never even opened the CS so it will be awhile. I would probably just use pre-made rooms and halls, but I do possess a fair bit of environment modeling skills.... Anyway, I was just wondering what people think. If you absolutely hate it and would rather arrive by ship, well okay; but if you like it, but just wish it was a little different, what do you think? Some ideas I had: More areas and rooms. You have to explore and lockpick to find items, rather than just having them all right there. Want to be a heavy weapon guy, but all there is is bows and daggers? Explore and look for it! You don't need an axe right away just to fight rats anyway.Less potions in the old barrels in this long abandoned place.More rats, not all of which are vicious.More goblins, all of which are vicious.Getting rid of that one zombie that makes no sense being there and feels way out of place. Or adding a crypt-like area so it does work. Or a goblin shaman. Or both.More lockpicking, and more lockpicks. You have to lockpick to escape (the tutorial will tell you all about the virtues of saving often). The guards don't close the prison door behind them, so you don't even have to follow them into the passage if you don't want to. Your character will then be created by the guard in the main room, with paperwork. You can backtrack all the way to the back of the secret door in the jail cell from the sewer exit. No Baurus key will be necessary in either direction. It's not like you can avoid talking to him.If you go out the front door, and then backtrack from the sewer exit, you can find Uriel Septim's body and loot the amulet off him.The ability, if it doesn't exist already, to enter the sewer section at the end from the bigger sewers accessible from the North. You know, those sealed doors. Is there anything behind those? I don't know if these are all even possible. What do people think?
Sultericdrums
It would be cool but most of the mods concerning it skip over it or offer an alternative like "Arrive by Ship", etc.
paladicprince
I don't know about the backtracking thing, you'd have to find a different way to initiate the main quest if you didn't go through the dungeon. But honestly I'd say not to bother with adding that option, at least not until like the final thing. there are already plenty of quick start mods and such to choose from. I think making the tutorial dungeon a bit harder is a fun idea and I'd definitely download it if it came out. I personally like roleplaying Paladins and such so starting in prison bothers me some, but I RP some pretty evil dudes too haha. I like all your ideas so far, so I'd look forward to it. And I don't know offhand of any mods that directly change the main tutorial, most of them create alternates as the above poster said.
