Custom Model Replacer Using Vanilla Textures

G'day,

This is the first time I've tried modelling stuff in Fallout, and I've got a bit of a problem...

I'm trying to make a replacer for the Chinese Officer Sword (I made a Chinese Dao to replace it) and the model works fine in-game, no problemo... except when I equip it. When I equip the sword, it appears that the blade is using the "textures\weapons\1handmelee\chineseofficersword.dds" texture instead of my custom "textures\Billyro\chinese dao\blade.dds" like it does when it is on the floor. The textures for the hilt and grip work fine.

I checked in the GECK to see if the textures are handled within the weapon data, but I didn't see anything in my brief glance.

I have no idea how to fix this. Theoretically, it should work, but I must have overlooked something.

Anyway, here are some screenshots if you're a TL;DR person...

In NifSkope... looks fine.

On the ground in-game... looks fine.

Equipped in-game... looks like the blade was rubbed in a turd.

So, as you can see... that is a little bit strange. Any help with this problem would be appreciated. I'm probably making a noob mistake, but I only hope that I can fix it and hopefully not make the same mistake in the future!

Alternatively, I may just have to replace the vanilla textures instead of having my own with a separate file path, but I kinda hoped to avoid that.

If anyone wants to see the .nif file, just let me know and I'll upload it.

EDIT: I just went ahead and replaced the vanilla textures. I remembered that the weapons utilise both first and third person textures, so that's probably what the problem was.

Working good now...
