Where did you hear this? An interview/preview or from someone on the forums? People usualy think of a lot of things that COULD be in oblivion, and then they tell that to others and in no time everyone thinks it has been officialy said.

Heard it on elderscrolls.com forums and he said it was on IGN's forums and a dev answered the question that was the movement in oblivion for the 360.

Yeah, I was wondering why anyone would care about the 360 in the first place. I mean, you don't even get TESCSIV. What the hell?

Ooh, HD rendering! SOOO COOL!

And I'm done. Sorry, I just get irritated when only consoles get attention now a days. Makes me proud to be a PC owner.

You get more bang for the buck with a console if all you want to do is play the games. Not everyone has the money to buy a new PC either.

Not with this generation of consoles, for two reasons:

1) The price of the consoles themselves is pretty close to the price of an upgrade to your PC. Why pay $300 for a console when I can pay $400 to upgrade my previous-generation PC to more modern status, and get much better overall quality?

2) Unless you've got a ton of money to spend on a nice tv, you're going to have ugly results. Standard tv resolution is the equivalent of 640x480 on a computer screen, if not worse. And if you've got the top-quality HDTV to play games on, the price argument got left behind a couple thousand dollars ago. So after buying that new console, you're stuck with something that doesn't look any better than that low-end pc.

Console gamers may not have a PC that can be upgraded to run games like Oblivion for $400. They may just like the console experience. Sitting on your couch with a wireless controller and playing with/against your buddies who are on the same couch is fun.

I agree that the 360 would be better with a HDTV. I know lots of people who have bought really good TVs lately. Some have dedicated home theater rooms with great sound systems. The Xbox 360 seems to fit in nicely in this environment. The console is easy and quick and simple to set up and use.

There are going to be fans of PC gaming and of console gaming for a long time. It's fine with me if people have either or both. I don't plan to get an Xbox 360 so I may not know the best reasons for getting one.

Will some Xbox 360 owners post their reasons for choosing the new Xbox here? Not if they get shut down immediately with the "Xbox sucks/why would anyone even care about Xbox" comments.

I seriously doubt it. Running Oblivion at low-level details and resolution is going to be possible on a pretty old computer. Unless they don't have a computer period (in which case, they need one), upgrading isn't going to be all that much more expensive compared to buying a console.

Fine, I'll concede that much. But it doesn't even come close to evening the gap in quality.

True, when you're buying a home theater room, the price argument gets abandoned pretty quickly. The people who have those expensive HDTVs probably also have whatever computer they want.

Not likely. If the price of consoles continues to rise as it did with this generation, they're going to price themselves right out of their market. The core market for consoles is the people who want a cheap gaming system, or a secondary system to the PC. If the PS4 costs $800 to be competitive with PC quality, nobody's going to buy it. As it is, prices are already reaching that point.
