3rdtryguy
I have often wondered just what the brahmin are finding to eat, since the grass is dead and it never seems to rain in the wasteland.Making a mod that adds rain is a bit of a pain and a major one I'd wager, so I had an idea today for a sensible cop-out. Ok, first of all, it rains in Oblivion's Cyrodiil all the time, so making it rain in the wasteland is really probably not all that hard. However, it would ruin the feel of the place and add much confusion regarding why clean rainwater isn't readily available. My idea is this: Maybe it does rain in the wasteland on a very rare basis, and when it does, it's a major event. just like in any other desert, the entire local ecology depends on this precious little bit of irrigation. After the rains, the grass grows and the flowers bloom and the bugs breed and everything happens very quickly, only to disappear again in a short time. Well, how about something like this: If the player sleeps for 10 hours ONE TIME after activating this mod, he awakens to a radio report from three dog who talks about the rain the player missed while he was asleep, and how it hasn't rained like that in over two years, and boy it would have been nice if it could have kept raining a little longer, etc... ( heh, heh.. rain with no rain mod. )About 10 game days later, the ground starts to turn green in places and many little plants erupt and bloom. Bloatflies become a bigger, much more numerous pest. Maybe a few other new creatures could appear briefly? ( major work, I know ) After a couple days of this, things fade away again, finally disappearing once the player sleeps 10 hours again. Or not. I thought it might be useful as a transition kind of thing, but now I realize that it would be madness to try to make a whole new, greener & wetter wasteland to sleep transition to for this. Nevemind all that. Still, Scorpions, bloatflies, ants, buzzards, bears, mirelurks, roaches, dogs, molerats and brahmin do not a sustainable ecology make. None of this should be working. Can't we have some lichens and crickets or something? Where is the base upon which this food chain rests?
Nagaoka
Well, there's already Enhanced Weather-Rain and Snow for making it rain, with the option of having radioactive rain. There are a bunch of mods adding various levels of greenness to the wasteland. I'm not sure how well a transition of such would work. I don't know if it's possible to turn off and on a greener wasteland without just turning off and on a mod. If it's possible, this could work. It's a pretty neat idea. AxlDave
After completing the Oasis quest with the option to boost the growth, you could make a gradual effect so that approximately 3640 game days after completing Oasis, plant life has spread out from Oasis to most of the wasteland, just some green scrub grass and a few bushes, with more stuff like trees and flowers closer to Oasis. I imagine you could use the plants from around Oasis as a template.
