I have had Oblivion since 2007, first on the PS3 and later on PC. I have been uses mods from TES nexus for a while and I am sick of not being able to figure out how to make my own. SO I come here to seek assistance. Now can anyone direct me to a place that can show me how to properly use the construction set and/or other programs to make my own mods? :wallbash:

The best tutorial for the CS is the Wiki: http://cs.elderscrolls.com/constwiki/index.php/Main_Page

More help here: http://cs.elderscrolls.com/constwiki/index...egory:Tutorials

Learn the CS first. Every mod must use the CS to be placed into the game, and mush of what you will learn will be needed no mater what other programs you use.

I have downloaded cs and have modded a couple of things and saved them to my data folder, i check them off in the box, but they never work on the game. even something as simple as changing whether a door is locked or not wont work. I don't know what to do. I can't find anything about it so far. I'm kinda wondering if i have to have the patch, b/c i don't. whenever i tried to DL it, it told me there was a different file there and it wouldn't continue....so i'm lost. I followed the tutorials step for step and nothing....any ideas?

Noob who wishes to learn how to mod
I think you mean "newb" or "newbie" since a "noob" is not likely capable or willing to learn how to mod for themselves and require others to do the work for them.

Newbies we can help and noobs, well, it's just an impossibility. ;)

If the plugin was created with a patched version of Oblivion, you need a patched version of Oblivion for it to even be recognized....or you can "back-rev" the version of the plugin to an older internal version that will work on an unpatched Oblivion. Could be a few things.

If you have Windows Vista, and Oblivion is installed somewhere inside the Program Files directory, you will need to reinstall it outside of that. Many people use c:\Games\Oblivion or just c:\Oblivion, but it doesn't matter so long as it's not anywhere inside Program Files.

Mods will not run in games of an earlier version than the Construction Set they were made with, so it is vital that you have the latest patch. Find your Oblivion.exe in Windows Explorer, right-click on it, and choose Properties from the context menu. From the window that appears, click on the Version tab. If your version number isn't 1.2.0.416, you need a patch.

The three most common reasons you cannot patch are: You are running Windows Vista and it is installed in Program Files, or your copy of the game is not legitimate (even No CD cracks will prevent patching), or you have a non-standard installation (such as from Direct2Drive). You know what to do if the first or second is true. If the third is true, you need to get the patch from the vendor. I know for sure Direct2Drive has it, and their version is the only one that will work if you bought the game from them.

Hope this helps!

Not meaning to go off-topic, but Noob is exactly the same as a newb or newbie. The word comes from the word newb, but has since been used as an insult to other players in a game world, similar to idiot in the real world. The meaning and use of the word Noob still remains the same though.

As for the construction set, I'd upgrade oblivion if I were you, as the majority of all oblivion mods requires Shivering Isles. Besides, you'll love SI, trust me, heh.

yeah thats kinda what i was thinking that kinda sucks. my brother just gave me his disk for pc. but i've already beat the game 10-fold on xbox. so i figured i'd see what kind of mods the game had...when there is extra i might buy it. Idk why it'd wouldn't update just from this disk....but then again soemtimes it tells me the disk is corrupt and i have to fight with it anyway....oh well thanks.
