Malchik
If you play the main quest you cannot avoid getting bitten but the certain kind of canine you refer to (lupus lupus) is not the kind of canine that spreads lycanthropy. Other than in the main quest they are very rare.

Malchik
Are you PC or xbox. If PC what is the bug you have? I believe the only place you can go for certain is the Connorflenge Barrow and at night. Moving to spoilers.
theRAIDER
Werewolves have something like a 5% chance of appearing randomly, and even when they do appear, there is a 5% chance you will be infected. It's a really slim chance, but PM me and I can give you a complete list of all the barrows and places they appear randomly. INTERESTING BLOODMOON FACT: The most powerful human NPC is actually a werewolf. A level 99 Dark Elf werewolf is hiding somewhere on Solstheim. I'm not gonna tell you where, he's EXTREMELY HARD to kill/find!!!
