  1. 1. What hand is your dominant one, and what sorts of modding do you prefer to do?

  3. 3. Do you believe handedness plays a role in how creative/logical you are?

I lean heavily to the logical / organizational / thinking side. (Birkman tests validate this)

The stuff I do that can be seen as "artsy" is not really anything artful about it. The "art" that I do is more like monkey see, monkey do or replication. Anything that is beyond that is purely from experience and exercise in the field.

To clarify more to this point, I played the trumpet instrument in band during Jr and High school. I was VERY good and was top of my class all the time. However, it was all technical skills or simple emulation. When presented with solo music I never heard before, I could play it but it sounded very cold and mechanical. I had to actually hear a professional play it before I could replicate the "feeling" of it. And it wasn't until I reached state playoffs that I encountered a truly gifted trumpet player that had to be at least 6 years younger than me. The sounds that came from him was like listening to a professional in his 50's. It was made immediately clear to me that playing the trumpet was NOT my calling when standing in the presence of such raw talent.

Modding Oblivion is much of the same thing that I have always done. I first figured out the technical issues to modding which seemed the easiest thing to me since it came very naturally. File and path organization, archiving, etc. As I progressed up the knowledge tree, I have reached the point of doing models. Guess what they are? They are replications of things that were created by the real artists that could think up the things from their own imagination. Maybe one day I will be able to create models that do not exist from anywhere but that certainly is NOT my goal since I know my limitations. To create something that has not been done before, I should really work with a 2D artist to get good sketches created so I can "replicate" the work in 3D space. This is probably the best I can hope for in terms of 3D modeling.

Everyone learns from reading and seeing what others do but some people have talent that can reach much farther than that. Others can reach a point where it is difficult to tell they are just replicating what they have done before because of all the experience they have. And still others are just limited to replicating what they see. And the ones who cannot do that are simply not interested enough to apply themselves to reach that point or realize they do not have the time necessary to achieve the desired level of competence in that area.

Oh, I didn't vote. Figured this was a better explanation.
