gsmanners
So, how is it going to work? Do we need to set up a server, or does each player have their own mini-server?
Cakester
So, how is it going to work? Do we need to set up a server, or does each player have their own mini-server? The server is just one and it was made from scratch by me. But, to be fair I used the boost library for the server's network stuff. But for the client I didn't use ASIO at all. As long as the server ip in the text file matches the one that the server application is hosted on, you should be able to join.
SpeedyB64
This is looking very promising (Anybody reading this thread be sure to go to the one on the Bethesda forums!).
Cakester
This is looking very promising (Anybody reading this thread be sure to go to the one on the Bethesda forums!). I have good news! It works! Other players now show up in game. But! I have no way of testing if we can see each other move. Because Fallout 3's screen goes black when i switch to a different user account, which is a problem with the original game. So it looks like I will need now an actual person other than myself to test with. ;)

gsmanners
I take it you aren't testing on a LAN setup with three actual computers?
Cakester
I take it you aren't testing on a LAN setup with three actual computers? Back when I did Afollut, I did test on a network, but fallout 3 is such a mammoth of a game, I doubt my parents are up for installing all of it just so they can test for me. nick365
This is amazing! I would love to help you test if that's okay. Do you plan on making this an open source community project later on or a closed source group project? Keep up the great work! :thanks: -Nick
