Xenobuzz
I'm on my third play-through and I topped out at lvl 30 before finishing Point Lookout with The Pitt and almost the entire main quest storyline waiting for me. I don't get nearly as much of a kick out of exploring and takin' out baddies without that little ch-ching sound of a little xp. I have the Game Guide but I don't recall it specifying that increasing the difficulty affects how much xp you earn. Other than dodging/sneaking by enemies (a tedious and time-consuming tactic, especially in the beginning) are there any ways to reduce my earned xp and prolong my characters leveling curve? If I get into modding, is there a way to use them to adjust what I earn? Dave S.
Branimirzg
It would be much better to lower skill points per level and to play with level cap increaser. It makes fallout 3 pure rpg as you have to think which perk to choose
Xenobuzz
It would be much better to lower skill points per level and to play with level cap increaser. It makes fallout 3 pure rpg as you have to think which perk to choose By that, do you mean avoid perks like Comprehension and Educated? I can't think of any other in-game perks that affect XP or how many skill points you can get. I can see how not using these perks would make finding the Skill Books more of a priority since I'm maxed on all skills except for Melee and Unarmed. Dave S. Branimirzg
No...I mean to lower base skill points per level... It's set + 10 skill points per level + INT You can lower it in geck- under Gameplay/settings "ilevelupskillpointsbase" - Lower it to 3-4 points per level and it will make game much more interesting. That way you have to search for the skill books ... makes you to wisely choose perk on each level up. Also makes worth taking level cap remover. That way i had maxed skills on 50-55 level
csb
There are mods that reduce the xp (Arwen, others), as well as limit the increase from Bobbleheads and books to 1 pt. This keeps the pace going for much longer. Combined with realism mods (Arwen's, Survival of the Fittest, others), it keeps the "danger" level up much longer. Add in increased creature spawns ala MMM and the Wastelandsd become a much more dangerous and challenging place. And that's with a "Normal" setting. gsmanners
I find that most XP comes from wasteful respawns which add nothing in terms of game content. That why I chose a long time ago to play with respawns turned off. There are mods that also reduce the frequency of respawns.
Pooer
How do you turn off re spawns could you link the mod for that? Also I want a mod to make the game like Baldur's gate 2 in that the level of the monsters is not ALWAYS the same as you. In oblivion a guy made amod where you the monsters are at different levels and where you can in theory hit a high level and have easy monsters you just wipe the floor with - but also have some monsters which are wayyyy above you and must be conquered when you level some more. Anyone know a mod (mods) like that. I quit playing the game after getting killed again and again (I only completed initial Megaton village quests) - I would like kill some raider then his buddy would come and finish me... thanks

csb
There are de-leveled list mods available as well.
Cecallred
Along with the above mentioned mods, play with a follower. They end to get a lot of the kills (I use the Lcuy West follower mod) and that keeps my XP levels down. I also use a mod that decreases my XP levels for each perk I use by 25%. I'm now getting 75% less XP, I'm halfway through the game again and I'm not even up to level 12 yet.
