mcole254
Like so I copied the weights off of the HGEC upper and lower body onto these body pieces in my model, the legs are the same, the upper body is modified a little (in the chest area) but not around the waist or neck line. So if anyone could help me figure out why this is happening and how to fix it I would be very greatful. rdamstrom
first you should inspect your body meshes to insure there is no gap in the meshes you can import the head if you haven't already just don't try to edit the head I know on the aa upper there is a gap haven't botheer to fix it. if you can't fix the waist you could just weld them together
thePhilanthropy
I've had this problem myself. rdamstrom, your idea isn't bad, but from what I can tell, it doesn't address the problem. mcole254, what software are you using? In 3ds Max, at least, you can copy single vertex weights. That way you can copy only the weights on the seams, so that they fit again, even after they went bad. If nothing helps, reimport the body parts, and delete clipping/invisible faces, WITHOUT discarding the skin modifier (all the weights). (also, make sure the skeleton [=armature in blender] is not transformed at all. Import it seperately). Hope that helps.

Thanks for the replies.
thePhilanthropy
OK, step by step... 1. select the mesh you want to copy from.2. select the skin modifier.3. click on the "Edit Envelopes" button (under parameters)4. tick the "vertices" box directly below that.5. select the vertex/vertices you want to copy the weight from 6. scroll down the skin modifier menu. Still under parameters there's a small button that shows a wrench. It calles weight-tool. 7. click on it. A new dialog box appears. It shows the weights of the selected vertex. 8. click on copy to copy the weights of the vertex. 9. select the other mesh and vertex you want to copy to.10. again, with the weight tool, click on paste. voila! (note: this only works if both skin-modifiers have the required bones listed. So you might have to add them, but only if it doesn't work.) I'm using max 8. Stuff might be a little different in your version, but it should be almost the same anyway.
