tehfata
hey, I don't know if anyone's working on this, but I thought it'd be cool if we could assign the first the hotkeys to weapons, and have them display in third person (i.e. rifle, pistol, knife). I know about rustreaver4d1's holster script, but it's not quite what I have in mind; I'd just like to see my primary rifle, pistol and melee weapon on me while I'm running around, you know? so that when i hot swap a weapon, it doesn't disappear, or when i use a pistol holster mod, the pistol stays in when i have my rifle out. (it looks weird to have an empty holster, y'know? Anyone got any ideas?
MoreDread292
yea that would be nice to have..but it sounds a lil hard to do.. considering that where a weapon gets placed on the character depends on what type of weapon it is... (2h stuff on the back, 1h stuff at the hip) and there are only a few animations for equipping/unequipping them which are probably hardcoded.. as in.. they can be replaced but no new ones can be added... so a dynamic system allowing you to automatically display hot keyed items is probably not gonna happen... what you could do is make armor versions of the weapons you use that can be equipped and automatically get unequipped through scripting whenever you ready the real weapons. but then you'd have to create such an item for every base weapon in the game and modded weapons would not be supported. maybe i can find some useful techniques by looking at the animated nightvision goggles.... theLeeHarvey
You've got a really cool idea and I would love to see it come to fruition, but I think it's going to be one of those things that unless you figure it out and do it yourself, nobody is going to bother. If I had any idea about scripting I'd volunteer to help you out. I will keep my eyes open on this for further developments and if I find out anything that could help you, I'll be back. MoreDread292
i have just taken a look at the animated nightvision goggles by alexscorpion, and it seems to be very simple to add new item related animations to the game...and i have also tested a mod that copies the hotkeys to give you an additional set of hotkeys...so its gotta be possible to get an item reference from the hotkeys. suddenly the whole idea sounds alot more doable to me than before....
