Keeshi
my PC is not up to par with current gaming rigs. I currectly use a Diamond RademonX1050, but I would like to upgrade to a new card so I can connect my PC to my new 47inch Flat screen TV. Would anyone know of some cards I could buy that would do as well as my current card, but also alow me to do what I want with the TV?
Vagrant0
Before hooking your computer up to a TV, you should really consider how far away from that TV you will be seated. If you sit too close, you could have some problems with eye or neck strain since everything isn't always in view. If you sit too far away, you will probably need to use a much lower screen resolution (size 10 text can look outright puny from a few feet away at 1280x1024), which almost defeats the purpose of going with a larger screen. Most TVs also do not have screens which can support the same pixel density as monitors, even HDTV screens, so again, the screen resolution may be limited. Resolution is important since it's one of the major factors behind how good any game looks. Try playing something like Oblivion in 800x600 resolution and you're notice how blurry things are. That said, saying it's a flatscreen TV doesn't really help. What would help is knowing what connections it supports.
spammster
if its at least an HD ready TV (preferably though it should be a 480p or 1080p too really enjoy HD gaming) with HDMI there's no problem at all. nearly every somewhat new graphic card comes with a HDMI port (hell my onboard card has a HDMI port and fully supports HD) however if you wanna play on that TV with some quality (you will need a resolution of around 1920* (or it will look horribly stretched)) so you do require a good graphics card. however if you don't wanna spend several hundret bucks on a card, go with something like an HD4870, that one (at least for me and i haven't heard complains) works nicely with LCD flats (though I'm only using a 40" wide flat) and beamer (3.2x1.8 meter (thats 16:9)) (video projector, apperantly americans aren't used to that word) and the 4870 works great even on max. settings for every game i tested it on (in the highest possible resolution)
Illiad86
also make sure your HDTV has a high refresh rate. 1080 + HDMI + low refresh rate= the worst picture I've ever seen.
Thor.
my PC is not up to par with current gaming rigs. So what is your budget for a new video card, most new ones these days support hdmi. Also the tv thing yes that can be the case, i have as you can tell a sharp aquos with a refresh rate of 120Hertz and it looks fantastic in 1080p but 60hertz looks ok to, even my friend with a 1080I res looks pretty good aswell, so it does depend on the tv, his was a Panasonic 32inch. Funny he didn't have hdmi but dvi, but with a hdmi to dvi adapter it looked great. So what make is yours. anything around 1080i to 1080p with a refresh rate of 60hertz will look ok, as long its not a crt.
