Wreaxz Posted April 21, 2014 Posted April 21, 2014 Heya guys, Wreaxz here. I recently decided to try out another water mod for my Skyrim. The original mod i had installed was Pure Waters legendary edition. I switched to the W.A.T.E.R mod, water and terrain enhancement redux or something like that. Upon loading up my game, the water textures were either completely missing or just had a little white ripple on the top while the actual water had vanished. Below is what it looks like. Really sorry for how small the image is i don't know how to upload bigger files, the nexus limits me to 250KB. Manufacturer: AlienwareProcessor: Intel® core i7-3770 CPU @ 3.40GzGraphics: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 555Windows 64-bit operating system
Georgiegril Posted April 21, 2014 Posted April 21, 2014 I did not look at your bmp. However the problem you describe sounds like when you removed the textures from one mod, not all textures were replaced by the other.I suggest uninstalling WATER, then using steam's verify game files option. This should write the missing original files back into your game.At that point you could reinstall WATER. Be aware that the verify game files option will rewrite your ini and prefs ini files, so if you have made any changes to those, you will want to make backup copies and keep them handy so you can easily revert back to them.
Wreaxz Posted April 22, 2014 Author Posted April 22, 2014 Hi Georgiegril, so taking in what your saying. Shouldn't the action of reinstalling pure waters mod restore the textures lost by installing WATER? Sorry for the inconvenience but if i verify the integrity of my files will i be able to just copy and paste the original .ini file to replace the standard one? Because i have made quite a lot of changes to the .ini It would be a shame to lose them.
Georgiegril Posted April 22, 2014 Posted April 22, 2014 Sorry, now I am confused. My understanding is that you wanted to use WATER, not Pure Waters. If you want to return to Pure Waters, it is possible that uninstalling WATER and reinstalling pure Waters may solve your problem. The safest method to try would be to reinstall Pure Waters, the revert to a save from before you first removed it.As to your question about using verify cache-- if you make a copy of your ini files, you can easily copy-paste them back to completely restore them. For this reason it is always good to keep a backup of your modified ini somewhere, just in case. However, verify game cache may have some other unintended consequences as it may overwrite some of your other files. You might also try opening the mods up in TES5Edit to see what files are used by Pure Waters that are not replaced by WATER, then manually restore those files. (If you are wanting to use WATER)
