KishKan
I tried to convert a random sized image and failed... :( I went back to my XP computer where I have 'DDS Converter 2.1' by Yannick 'Bluehair' Leoncopyright 2004-2005. When I ran it on a random image I'll call 'MyPic.jpg', it told me 'Error: [MyPic.jpg] size not a power of 2'----To test this version of 'ddsconvert' I created 2 diretories TMP/input and TMP/output'pTEST_1391x826.png' was my original image. (win8.1 64bit)Using 'IrfanView' I did a mix of cropping & resizing to get the dimensionsthen saving the resulting image with a filename showing the size in TMP/input.'ddconvert' version 1dot0 _said_ it processed each file and gave an output filenamebut the non-power-of-2 dds files were NOT created in TMP/output.Example: Processed file bTEST_1024x1000.bmp -> bTEST_1024x1000.dds Here are the results with my FAIL comments: bTEST_128x64.bmp -> bTEST_128x64.ddsbTEST_512x512.bmp -> bTEST_512x512.ddsbTEST_1024x1000.bmp -> (FAIL: dimensions not power of 2)bTEST_1024x1024.bmp -> bTEST_1024x1024.ddsbTEST_1391x826.bmp -> (FAIL: dimensions not power of 2)gTEST_512x512.gif -> gTEST_512x512.ddsgTEST_1024x1000.gif -> (FAIL: dimensions not power of 2)jTEST_1024x512.jpg -> jTEST_1024x512.ddsjTEST_1391x826.jpg -> (FAIL: dimensions not power of 2)pTEST_1024x1024.png -> (FAIL: not a valid type) pTEST_1391x826.png -> (FAIL: not a valid type) tTEST_512x512.tga -> tTEST_1024x512.ddstTEST_1024x1000.tga -> (FAIL: dimensions not power of 2)tTEST_1391x826.tga -> (FAIL: dimensions not power of 2) So 'ddsconvert' will run under Win8.1 64bit but the imagesmust be a power-of-2 in dimensions. Maybe an error message written in?
hollaajith
DDS files needs to have dimensions in powers of 2, like 4, 8, 16, 32, 256, etc. Scroll down to the limitations about DDS here. Edited April 7, 2015 by hollaajith
MeicalHoel
Converted files don't seem to actually save in the destination folder.
AuroravisVL
This program is registering as a trojan on MS windows 10. Just FYI in case this is new with a windows update. Also just trying to do a conversion from Lorkhan's lunar legacy dds files to tga but I get the error "Error with file tx_masser_full.dds" when I try to convert. Oblivionaddicted
As an alternative you can use some freewares like DDS2BMP and BMP2DDS for example. I've already used them by the way without any problem.
