etarm
I'm experiencing slow animations (opening doors, display cases, etc.) I mean really slow -- like it takes a door 30 to 45 seconds to open fully. My video card isn't great, but I usually see frame rates of 30-50, so I don't think it's a video card issue. Also, these animations used to work fine (see paragraph below)... This problem is probably related to a mod, but in general I've been pretty careful in installing mods, choosing ones that are highly rated without known conflicts, and I only have around a dozen installed. I think the issue may have started after I installed the Lost Spires, so perhaps the problem lies there. I'm hoping for some troubleshooting steps that won't mess up my savegames (since I've already completed Lost Spires -- for instance, if I just deinstall Lost Spires, I expect that I'll lose the sword that I got out of the final quest). I've read the pinned post on problems related to mods, so I'm not expecting any answers, but if anyone has ideas, I'd appreciate it. TIA Ed ------- After a bit more searching of the forum, I found a post that exactly describes my problem. Illiad86 writes: "...Stuck Door/Slow Framerate on Some Animations ProblemAfter long periods of spending hundreds of hours of gameplay, flames (such as fire spells) don't extinguish, torches don't flicker or flicker very slowly, doors in catacombs fail to close or close very very slowly, and traps animate slowly as well. It reacts like the game is getting laggy, even with a high-end system, but many other things run at normal speed. This does not affect the FPS btw. Normally happens after 225 hours of gameplay, but may happen earlier or later. Sound like the issues you are having? here's the fix http://wrye.ufrealms.net/Wrye%20Bash.html#RepairAbomb" Unfortunately, I get a "Cannot find server" on that weblink. :(
Illiad86
ah...Wrye's site is still down :( Well if you have Wyre Bash there is a "Repair Abomb" function. Go to the "Saves" tab, right click on your save game and select "Repair Abomb" If you don't have that, this can be used as well :) http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=5127
etarm
Thanks for the tesnexus link. I downloaded the fix, ran it, and animations are back to normal! I can't believe how long I lived with the slow animations thinking that I'd mucked something up installing a mod (I'm at 343 hours of gameplay)... THANK YOU!! Illiad86
No problem at all :)
bben46
This used to be a common bug. It happens at about 200 hours. But it was fixed in the Unofficial oblivion patch some time ago. For those experiencing this who do not use the unofficial patch, and cannot get access to Wrye Bash.here is the stand alone fix.
