bben46
I have a set of help files for people who are not computer geeks and are new to mods. They include downloading, extracting (unzipping) installing and activating mods. I have included a simple mod to practice on and instructions for installing and using 7-zip. If you are interested, click on the highlighted link below to be taken to the site where they are kept. I recommend starting with #1 and working your way through them. http://s1.zetaboards.com/TheStormRavenLibrary/forum/256092/ If you use them I would appreciate some feedback as to what needs improvement and what works for you. For Vista related problems such as UAC, Check here: http://www.tesnexus.com/articles/article.php?id=262. Deleted your duplicate topic - one is enough. blackpheonixark
Step 1: Take Vista CD and use as toilet paperStep 2: Send back to MicrsoftStep 3: Install XP. lol Just kidding. From my experience, the Data Folder seems to need to be put directly on the harddrive. So If you want, back up your data folder, then re-install oblivion using a folder like C:/Oblivion or something. Don't install it to program files. It tends to eff up A LOT in program files. So install it to C:/(whatever folder you created on C:) and then copy your vacked up Data Folder to the new data folder. For me it was C:/Oblivion/Bethesda Softworks/Oblivion/Data. Also, when unpacking a mod, what I tend to do is unpack it where it is, and then drag and drop the Texture, Meshes, Sounds, and other folders to the data folder. SO make sure you have the explorer bar showing you the Data Folder so you can easily drag and drop the folders to it. Hope that helps
DavidBudreck
I have heard the same about Vista, but that was not my experience at all. Whe I first started playing Oblivion I was using Vista, and while I agree with the step by step instructions on what to do with Vista, it had not affected my Oblivion Play. I did eventually go back down to XP, and was hoping things would be more stable on XP, but I have seen no real difference in either the Game or the CS. Both are just as buggy and problamatic on XP as they were on Vista.
