Astrolopolis
Hello folks! I do love this game, but for the first time I'm stuck and am looking for a spoiler (or some hint that will keep me moving forward). I'm in Wilhelm's Cellar and the evil spirit inhabiting "Kitty" is threatening to possess the little girl unless I figure out how to beat the mage's wards holding it caged. I don't even know what constitutes a target solution - I can assume that perhaps the fire should reach the opposite corner, but the uncertainty has me crippled. Has anyone solved that puzzle, and if so, can you give me a gentle shove in the right direction? Thanks! Astro
JimboUK
Yeah you have to get the fire from one corner to the other, each tile has a arrow that indicates which way the fire will go. I hated this puzzle, I'm useless at them and it annoyed the hell out of me. I can't really give exact instructions to get though it, I used trial and error. Florimel
Okay, I just did this and will try to point you in the right direction. Sorry if I'm saying things you already know, but -- This is kind of like the puzzle where you move tiles to line up a picture or numbers in the correct order. If you look at the floor tiles, you'll see that each has an arrow pointing in some direction. That shows that when a tile is on fire, it will light the one next to it in that direction. In other words, if a lit tile's arrow is pointing to the right, it will light an adjacent tile on its right. So, you need to move tiles by right clicking on them; a tile can move only to an adjacent empty square. It helped me to look at the arrows at the end and try to figure out how to move the tiles to get the right path. It took some trial and error, but I did not find it too hard. I hope this gives you the kick start you were looking for.
Thasic
It also helps to take a top down camera angle when doing the puzzle. I did it with trial and error as well. BTW, don't stand in the flames
Meh2100
when i do this puzzle i've noticed that the tiles that point to the left and up are usless and you should try and push them to the left side of the board, never do any backtracking if you can help it and always be moving to the down and to the right. Astrolopolis
Ok folks - I got this solved. Sorry I didn't get back to you all yesterday, but thanks heaps for all your help. Once I read jim_uk's post and realized I hadn't even noticed the arrows on the tiles, I slapped myself on the head, went back to the game and solved the puzzle in about 10 minutes. Missing those arrows the first time through is embarrasing as hell, but once you guys pointed them out to me solving the puzzle was easy (and a lot less annoying). Florimel
I just wanted to add that I found the easiest way to figure this out is to work backwards from the end point. There are only two ways to light the last fire at that point, up or right. I start there and trace my way back to work out a path. It still takes some trial and error, but it gives me a head start.
