Bethesda missing a trick?

Hi all. I've downloaded a Fallout 3 'theme' for my phone and was so sad that it didn't transform it in to a Pip-boy!

Is Bethesda missing out an a lucrative revenue stream here? There's already a very good Pip-boy theme/emulator for the Blackberry which I crave for my Android phone

Blackberry Pip-boy.

Now, that's just super cool. If Bethesda brought this out I'd pay my cash in an instant!

Going further, they could use the HUD from the game to overlay the image from the camera incorporating GPS for waypoints etc (there are already a couple of Android apps that do this - AugSatNav and 3D Compass).

The Pip-boy in game is essentially an OS running in game - the theme works brilliantly on modern smart phones.

Come on Bethesda! Pip-boy 2010!!

You're forgetting the biggest drawback: Once you put the Pipboy on IT DOESN"T COME OFF! Especially if Bethesda does it.

"Copy-right is one thing but legal threats over fan-art? That just plain sucks."

Could be a trademark/trade-dress issue maybe. They have to enforce it or risk losing the right to own it (unlike copyright).

Legal threats? Sounds like Rockstar!

I also heard that the military was planning a device which fitted on your wrist and gave you breifings on your missions or something but they should really just give it to the public! Imagine... a whole computer with a terrabite on your wrist...

Remove any Fallout references, rename a thing or two, re-upload, calling it retro or something. Bonus points for World of Tomorrow references. ;)

Not so far-fetched, but damned expensive. High-end smart phones have (comparatively) super-fast CPUs and pretty much ARE computers. Add in a crapload of flash or flash-like memory (the expensive part), add a cuff for a wrist strap, and there ya go.

The real trick is powering the sucker. (expensive part number 2..and the stickiest)
