What I'm doing is splitting up the suggestions into those I plan to add/test as soon as feasible and those I'll be looking at later (or much later). There aren't many in the 'immediate' list. I also suggest using AutoBookPlacer , SpeedyDepositing/SpeedyDisrobe , ClaimInterior, Command Mount,House map markers. I couldn't find mods for ClaimInterior or Command Mount, any chance of a URL? ptbptb Posted November 25, 2009 Author Share Posted November 25, 2009 Experience so far: When installing the Unofficial Shivering Isles Patch I was asked if I was using body changing mods, there was no "I'm not yet, but I will be" option but I don't think it will hurt anything if I say no and use body changing mods later. * * * * * * Came across a slight issue when installing the SM Plugin Refurbish. I couldn't work out how to use the omod conversion data with the Oblivion Mod Manager. It's actually very easy, but only if you know how (not mentioned in the help as far as I could tell). 1. Start Oblivion Mod Manager2. Click 'Create'3. Click 'Add archive' and select .zip file.4. Ignore scary warning about subfolders.5. Say 'Yes' when it asks if you want to use the conversion data. I was looking for options to open / import or paste in the conversion data. :-( * * * * * Continuing the first thing I noticed on running Oblivion was that I had been over-optimistic with the video settings in the options. :-( Will try down to 800x600 resolution. The next thing was that I really need Fast Exit. I was going to leave OBSE (needed for Fast Exit) till later but crashes on game exit are really annoying in Windows 7 as the Windows Crash message difficult to see leaving you staring at a black screen and not knowing how to get rid of it. * * * * * 'Dual wielding' Oblivion is possible (installing Oblivion into two different directories). There are only problems so far. One is that save game files go into the same location and there is no easy way to tell which save game goes with which Oblivion installation (I am using even numbers for "Pure Vanilla Oblivion" and odd numbers for "Modded Oblivion"). The second is that Oblivion (clean) shares the same list of (supposedly) installed mods that Oblivion (modified) has. It gives a warning, but I think will not generally cause any problems. * * * * * Had some problems getting Slofs Oblivion Better Beasts and Robert's male body replacer installed but it's sorted out now. Not sure what I did different the second time around. * * * * * Discovered that I can't have cat eyes and Oblivion Better Beasts at the same time - at least not with Khajiit Cat Eyes or Elaborate Eyes 7Zip Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I think technically you can run 2 separate copies of Oblivion (and I have been) but Oblivion can't recognize that they have different sets of mods installed. My unmodded copy of Oblivion doesn't seem to have any problems except for the warning message about missing content. * * * * * Further notes for the 'Journal of a newbie Oblivionator' I couldn't get Slof's Oblivion Better Beasts to work with Robert's MaleBodyReplacerV4 but I could get Slofs Khajiit Retexture to work with Roberts Male Body v5 Beta so I went with that in the end.
