ElizabethHN
So I started oblivion up this morning, had my coffee and set to continue a quest mod I had downloaded. I turn it on, it loads fine and then I realize my game (in game, not loading) is running as slow as a turtle in mud. I've restarted my computer, done a defrag, registry clean, de-activating mods, every possible thing and it won't stop. I was able to run it on max settings fine before, but now to be able to play it, I have to have it at litterally the lowest settings. Do you know what those look like? :wallbash: If anyone knows why this is, I would love you forever. :thanks:
Sinisister
Are you launching a save game that includes the latest mods you downloaded?Have you tried starting a new game? Is that also slow?Do you have an old save game and have you tried running that without any changes? (run it with the same mods activated as when you saved it)Are you using OBMM or the like? (you should be) What is your load order and mods? (OBMM will tell you)Have you (or anyone else possibly without your knowledge) made any changes whatsoever to your PC since this started, no matter how unlikely it may seem to be related to this? Including, or especially, Windows updates. Do you have antivirus software installed and is it current? Can you tell that I do software support? I've run across some references to save game "bloat" on this site, but haven't experienced it myself although I am over 200 hours and level 35 in my game. But I think I recall that there are some utilities that will clean a bloated save game? Might be worth looking into... if it's your save game. Good luck. Rabbit1251
How long have you played this character? If you are suffering from severe stuttering; and by this I mean that your people move fine, but flames stop flickering, waterfalls freeze in place and doors or gates take an inordinately long time to open; then you have a built in bug with Bethesda games. I would recommend Oblivion Stutter Remover. It has worked for me. You will need OBSE for it to work for you. I don't know if this is your problem or not, I'm just trying to collect on the reward. bben46
Oblivion Animation fixer: http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=5127 Is it just the game? or is everything slow? Spyware programs and virisus (virii?) - I looked it up viruses is correct. - can slow a system to a crawl. Also background processes, such as the indexing service can slow things down - for some reason, MS has decided that indexing the files on your hard drive is more important that what you wanted to do with your computer - try disabling the indexing service completely ( it likes to sneak back in though) You could also try this free program, Game Booster 1.22: http://majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=5952It can shut down a lot of background stuff and free up resources for the game, then when you are finished playing it puts them back. ElizabethHN
I think the animation fixer might do the trick, as it is just the game. I've scanned for viruses and I have none (yay) but it seems like when you have something else running and oblivion at the same time. I'm downloading the flicker thing as well, as everyone moves fine at a certain point, but everything else is slow, right before the whole thing goes turtle. Sinisister, yes, I can CERTAINLY tell you work for tech support. *hugs everyone and runs off to see what works*
