kaizerchar
Ok now im really pissed. I uninstalled fallout 3 with more than 15mods and reinstalled it in another folder (f:\fallout3) and fomm still wont work!!!!! No i cant believe its just me or my computer. It had to be something with win XP and the last updates but when i removed the recent updates, it didnt work, so what others solutions do i have? gsmanners
Reinstall Windows (is what I would do, but then I never update if I can help it and I use Linux for everything except games). It's kind of a weird fact of life for any OS that you encounter some kind of breakage, although I would have thought Windows was maybe a bit less prone to it than say Fedora or Sidux. I'm even less inclined to update Windows now. :P
Zumbs
cmon even butcher pete doesnt work, same as fomm... and i see more are having issues with fomm. Can i uninstall .net without having troubles after? Not likely as there are a lot of programs using .NET. You could, however, uninstall .NET, download it from MS and reinstall it - an update or another program may have corrupted it somehow? Reinstalling your OS may also be an option, but (depending on your system) should be a last resort.

overload1977
this is where you unzip fomm into you main fallout 3 folder http://img706.imageshack.us/img706/4792/fomm.jpg then all you need to do is open the folder and make a Shortcut to your desktop, you install Fose in the main folder as well NOT the data folder this will stop fomm or fose from working
mrfranswa
I think I am having the exact same problem. However, I recently upgraded my OS to windows 7 64X from vista 32X. I simply copied over fallout3 to the new program files folder. At first I was having a dll error, however after installing directX, now FOMM just doesn't load at all. I click run and nothing happens. I have tried everything listed below with absolutely no change. The one weird thing I've noticed is that FOMM seems to run off of the DLL's that were installed when you install fallout 3. I am guessing I'm getting the error because the hidden dll stuff was not transfered, (is in my windows.old folder). I tried putting in the correct custom paths, but nothing seems to change. I am guessing this is the error, but I can't nail it down.
mrfranswa
SUCCESSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was surfing the net, and I noticed one person's solution was running in a window. This made me remember my original problem when I first installed, (the viewport was to the left. I had to go and manually change the file). I opened up my users/(username)/my documents/my games/ fallout 3 folder to notice it was missing the file. I simply opened up windows.old version, copy and pasted all the files over, (and overwritten the old ones), and VOILA!!!! INSTANT SUCCESS! I don't know if this would fix your problem, but I suggest opening up that folder. It should have a folder name saves, then a fallout.ini, falloutprefs.ini (the file I doubt you have! this has the resolution info in it), and renderinfo.txt. Let me know if this fixed your problem!
